problems with humidification
    #2641871 - 05/05/04 01:43 PM (19 years, 10 months ago)

ok here is the deal... I am a first time grower and I have a terranium that is a medium size clear rubbermaid with a drip shield installed. I am using a damp layer of perlite and the cakes are sitting the lids to their jars they were previously in. I also have the terranium sitting on a heating pad to keep the temperature at about 80-85. i used the jar method to innoculate but here is the problem, the fluffy white mycellium was growing great after it was put into the terranium, but after about 4-5 days there was little water droplets on the cakes, i read this was bad.. but what am i supposed to do? i tried to dry them by tapping the droplets with a paper towel but in the morning the droplets were back... it also appears that the mycellium has halted in growth and what used to be fluffy is matted down how can i get the water droplets outta the cakes .. and how can i keep it from happening again? any help is greatly appreciated, thnx

Sounds like your humidity is too high. Try fanning more, and/or misting less.

To much humidity. It also sounds like your fruiting chamber is a bit hot. SHould be in the mid 70's. Not sure what you room temp is but if you lower that temp you might now get the condensation on the cakes.
