Normal blobs and mutants or something more sinister?
    #26419205 - 01/06/20 12:01 PM (4 years, 1 month ago)

Just wanted to get some more experienced eyes on this sub- first grow ever and my first pins are coming in—I appear to have a good number of weird blobs and mutants but I am concerned it might be something like verticillium. Should I be concerned? Also does it seem generally healthy? These are ms B+, spawned from brf cakes. Some reassurance would really put my mind at ease 😊

Yeah that’s not looking great.

It looks like they want more air but it could just be a reaction to whatever else is going on.

That’s not what I wanted to hear 😬 should I crack the lid?

lol I know man sorry, but hey you’ll have some shrooms to hold you over til the next grow.

I would wait for more people to comment I’m relatively new myself but yes I would crack the lid or something to get more air.

I can’t tell what tub it’s in. Looks like a shoebox but with higher walls.

Yeah it’s in a small shoebox exactly- have another one underneath that started pinning as well which doesn’t look like it’s having the same issues. Hopefully someone else can give a second opinion—if not I’ll crack the tub tomorrow before I go to work and see how they do.

Do you know how many quarts the tubs are?? It looks twice as tall as a shoebox so probably around 24?

Anyway what’s your set up right now? Unmodded tubs with the lid on?

Maybe this will help

this would actually make sense for me personally. spawned 1:1 2 quarts spawn 2 quarts cv and I have a great amount of pins but also have a lot of mutants/blobs.

ive spawned 1.1 many of times like that and have never had that like that before u will get a mutant here and there but not like that. and since you said u hav other tubs with normal fruits id say thats either environment genetic or bacterial id wait for a tc to tell ya for sure if i had to place $ on it tho out of those 3 id put the $ on environment and genetic. but wait for a tc is your best bet.

i did just zoom in tho and it looks like it started fruiting before 100% colonized tho and that is a good sign of contam hell i dont know man i just c alot of things that dont look good on this 1 do u got pics of ur other tub??

They are a bit smaller than the average shoebox you see on here maybe 10x7 and 6 inches deep. Not sure how many quarts, live in Europe but I’d guess maybe 5 or 6 tops. Yeah I am running unmodded tubs using ShaperDreaming’s sff shoebox tek.

Definitely my conditions aren’t optimal—live somewhere that is getting maybe 6 hours of good daylight right now and a don’t have a grow lamp so they definitely aren’t getting enough light. Moisture levels seem good but I am sure they are a bit bacterial since they were grown from spores on brf. Smell fine though. Read Bod say in another thread he thinks actual cases of Vert are super rare and most look-a-likes are actually caused by bad conditions or trich that’s about to pop up.

As per the tek I followed, I used a pseudo-casing layer which you are right is not fully colonised—I am told that is normal for some cultures though so I’m not worried about it.

Here’s a more close up of one of my more worryingg looking fruit—honestly if I manage to get a few dry grams off this I’ll be consider it a success.

Well I cracked the lid as recommended and they seem to be appreciating the increased FAE— unfortunately I am fairly sure they are bacterial as the box has a somewhat strange, acrid smell to it—not bad per se, but certainly not that great fresh mushroom smell like the cakes had when I birthed them. Ah well. Live and learn—should still get enough to take a few trips to outer-space 😊
