Grow Kit WHOLECELIUM Top layer

Hi all,
I'm new to this but I have recently purchased a Max Grow kit from Wholecium and the pins have started to grow but only from the sides of the box the substrate is in. I can see the top layer is really white and wondered if this could stop the pins from growing from the centre of the box or if I'm ok to leave it hopeing the pins starting growing through. Any advice would be greatly appreciated, thank you

Need pics man but sounds like your surface moisture is off and causing air pockets on thesside which is why it’s oinning is my guess 🤷🏾♂️

That's what it looks like. Can I remedy this by spraying the top layer? It was condensing inside the bag and the droplets of water were just remaining on top. Could I break up the top layer or apply a mist?

Sure, you could scratch the surface with a fork or something, like a wild animal in the wild, hoofing the earth for some sweet mycelium.
Some mushrooms do grow when earth is disturbed.
Give it a scratch and a spray to get some moisture on the surface, but no pooling! Probably don't want to go too deep either, for risk of breaking your substrate.
Wait, then see what happens in a week.

Your reply made my day, hilarious 😂 on a more serious note though just scraping the surface and applying so water spray should help?
Cheers 🤭

I say no scraping. Just mist without pooling.

Oh god
Scratching is generally frowned upon for cubes. Scratching should just be enough to dislodge the dead mycelium on top, maybe a few mm deep. What may have worked better would be flipping the sub.
However the real issue is the poor conditions being provided in that choke bag. Regardless of whether you flip or scratch, if you don’t fix the conditions it’s not going to help.

It was a kit I bought from Wholecelium. I've followed the instructions to the tee, it also has air vent strips. What advice would you give regarding the condition? I am new and it is my first attempt so apologies if I may have insulted the more experience growers. We are all learning

Poke a bunch more holes in the bag and mist as needed without soaking it.

Kits are usually garbage and often the instructions are designed to make you fail or have a poor result.
