Hey everyone,
Just dunked and rolled my first few cakes but the humidity in my fruiting chamber is way too low what the hell did I do wrong? The perlite is 5.5 inches and was dripping wet when I put it in there and I have holes 2 inches apart all the way around.

It will be fine. FAE is more important than humidity. Ive fruited cubes in open air at 56%. Make sure to minimize any airflow in the room.

Yeah I have everything as closed off as possible the room does tend to be really drafty tho old kinda run down house, but I tossed a cool mist on and humidity looks to be climbing a bit hopefully it will be enough

I’ve seen a lot of people say having the right size chamber for how many cakes there are makes a difference.
I have no idea personally but I know a lot of people would say that’s too big for two cakes.
Seems like it should work no matter what if you followed the instructions.

I know two cakes looks kinda ridiculous in there Haha I have 7 more I'm dunking as we speak to toss in there I was just dumb tired Last night when I started dunking and didnt make it too far before I ended up knocking. I could possibly see how having a few more cakes which are putting out heat and CO2 could add a bit to RH.

Imo, your chamber is preeetty big for just those two cakes. Having more cakes closer to each other is better because they create their own microclimate next to each other. You should be still able to get fruits, but I'm guessing they will get dry if misted improperly; maxing out at 60% of their potential. If you have the energy, try getting a much smaller tote, so they are 10 cm from the walls and 10cm from each other. Something like a 30x30cm. Honestly though, I wouldn't even bother. Get some coir and shred those cakes into an unmodified shoebox. Look it up if you don't know about it. You should get a much higher yield. Honestly, its much easier than building/properly maintaining a sgfc. Gl man!

I was just going to say spawning to coir is so much easier than maintaining cakes in my limited experience.
Shoeboxes also work pretty well for fruiting two cakes at a time. I just made a few cakes for the experience and put them in a shoebox with like an inch of soaked verm.
Did the job and no drilling holes or fanning needed. Just crack the lid and re water the verm if it gets dry.

Don't bother measuring humidity for cakes

Ok I wont stress it too much the cool mist has done a good deal for me and I feel the added cakes will get me where I wanna be this is kind of just a test for myself to see what I can get anyway because I plan on taking a flesh sample and tossing it on some agar i have made in the fridge. My first attempt inoculating spore to agar went disastrously but I feel like I have learned quite a bit and I wanna get some nice tubs going. In the mean time I wanna milk these cakes for what I can lol
