First shoebox starting to produce! 2

Was spawned on Thanksgiving, so just inside a month, but considering cooler temps the timeline seems reasonable enough. These puppies look like little pawns gently placed on the mycelium, they don't even look like they're growing out of it really. First grow ever so pretty stoked despite lackluster pin coverage, least gives me some fruits and potential prints to march on and work towards some worth while genetics. Merry Christmas!

The must be relative mushrooms, only coming around during the holidays They're supposed to be GTs from a ms syringe. Had a few other grows stall out or contam, so pretty excited about this one even though they are few and far between. I am happy that I was able to avoid side pinning, even with the sub pulling away from the shoebox on all sides. There's one small cluster on one of the short sides, but that is it for side pins.

Thanks, great feeling! And they're growing pretty quick now. Is the coloring on these normal? They're supposed to be GT, but other pics I've seen on here and two other different grows of mine look more like the traditional white pins with little brown caps. Leucistic maybe? They are receiving light, only 5500k though, running a few clip lamps along with some ambient sunlight.

Looks more like AA+ or rusty Whyte rather than GT unless you got some leucistic GT genetics.

That's almost what I was thinking. I did obtain RW and GWM prints, but those weren't started til much later. The only varieties I was working with at this point was either GT, B+ or Martinique. Certainly possible there could've been a mix up between any of those 3, but not with anything typically this color. Has me scratching my head.

Thanks. I started with 3 syringes and an attempt at some BRF cakes. I didn't read well enough and ended up getting some jars that were a little bit too large and stalled out when they were attempting to fully colonize. A few days after I inoculated the BRF cakes I decided that I wanted to really get into this, so I took the dive into agar. Bought myself a few prints, some petri dishes, agar and light malt extract for nutrients. Best decision I ever made, especially since all the BRF cakes were later tossed. While I was waiting on the BRF cakes I started with the agar and I was able to get some germination on some dishes from the original syringes and the prints, clean those up and made anywhere from 3-6 transfers with each variety. At that point I went to the local big-box store and picked up the cheapest WBS I could find, followed a WBS prep tek, pc'd some Qts and I was off to the races. At this point since I wasn't very confident with the process or approach I decided to put the QTs of spawn into their own shoeboxes in case any of them were contaminated or had issues. Hasn't been the smoothest ride, but I have learned so much more from my couple of attempts then I did with all of my hours of reading. I just find it better to have experienced the application of things. If you're wanting to get more involved in this hobby or start more projects don't be afraid, no better way to learn than "Trial by FIRE!" Whats the worst that can happen, it gets contaminated, stalls or doesn't produce fruit, if that happens you're no worse off than you were when you started, except maybe a few bucks down. Especially if you start from a print, you can always save the print and streak another dish with it later for another attempt if you're first fails. There's no replacement to firsthand experience and you're going to learn so much more, so much quicker. I don't know if you signed up or are interested, but if you're newer like myself and wanting to really get your feet wet you should do the group 2020 grow. https://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/26388175#26388175 Everyone is going from spore to agar on the 1st and updating their posts along the way. I figured this would be a great opportunity to compare my results and conditions along side other new growers and TC's and will be a great way to learn some new things you didn't know before. Not to mention a great way to get some experienced growers to look over your progress and weigh in.

Here are some updated pics of that same shoebox along with its little brother that was spawned the same day but lagging a few days behind. Same coloration with that shoebox too.

Nice!
Something was definitely mislabeled along the way if those are supposed to be golden teachers.
I like the one little guy growing off the tub instead of the sub.

Nah that other blobby weird looking tub ended up growing something that looked a little like trich to me, so I figured I'd better toss if before I let that monster loose in the house so I bagged the entire shoebox and pitched the bitch. Small price to pay to avoid future complications. Sorry, been afk lately, it's been a rough holiday season to say the least...you in on the 2020 community grow?

you mean to say life happens afk?? i relate.. stay strong bruh, hope things ease up for ya soon.
got to update our 2020 community log but yah we're focusing on getting Purple Mystic prints so continuing working with that cube which has produced 2 fruits for harvest so far resulting in not a single spore dropped
also recd PESA and TOC prints from Tribe giveaway we're going to work with for the 2020 grow. poured 60 plates (20 ea brf, mea, pda) on 30 and 31Dec,. PESA, TOC and PM (from syringe) spores to agar yesterday afternoon. excited to see what happens.
we also got trich on a shoebox, dumped it in the compost. everything was stalling out here, thought it may be due FAE as I had (unwisely) cut off all air movement by taping central heat vent closed for room. Opened that up and turned on ceiling fan couple days ago and two shoeboxes of B+ have exploded into action since may have killed all our pods tho and of 3 PM shoeboxes, one finally got a pin

Thanks, means a lot And things have been shaping up here in the first week of 2020, just been keeping myself busy with the dogs and mushie things.
Sounds like we are having some similar issues. I had a few grows early on that I spawned and sat for a while and never ended up pinning or producing, a few ended up with trich so those got pitched immediately. Since then I turned one of my shelving units into a psuedo-tent by taping together some black garbage bags and hanging those around the sides of the shelving unit. I have a couple clip lights sitting on the rack above. It seems to help me regulate the temp a little better and keep the RH up since my house is dry beyond belief in the winter. This setup has given me 3 decent sized shelves to load up with shoeboxes, I'm probably sitting with about 10-12 at different stages right now and most if not all are looking rather promising (fingers crossed) I can post pictures of the makeshift shelf tent if you're interested.
You've mentioned these tribe giveaways a few times, where about are these and what did you do to get your hands on some prints. Does that have anything to do with the marketplace? I've gotta be getting close to hitting the post and account age requirement to get at that soon.

yah, marketplace access is 90 days and 50 posts, clicking link will show requirements remaining before access, you've less than one week left to go: https://www.shroomery.org/forums/postlist.php/Board/43
Tribe giveaway thread: https://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/26121826
a couple weeks back filthyknees posted offer linking back to giveaway thread in pic of day or gen cult thread (cant recall which) and we asked her to consider us as we had only a few days left until marketplace access, she obliged and sent TOC and PESA.
Went back to thread now that marketplace is open for us, and see most everything is gone except a couple we qualify for so have requested from Yessum and about to hit up PsiloPsychIn who just updated giveaway thread with a few more available. One of his (Psilo's) conditions is if receiving bonus print pack from him that the extra be given to another shroomery member within 2 weeks. I'll mark you for the extra if he's still include such and you'd like to have it. we just dont have anything printed worthy of sharing except a couple initial, and small, GT prints. really wanting to get these purple mystics printed and have that as our pay-it-forward/community sharing base, along with results from giveaways we have success with.
just found a pod pin definitely almost killed these things, maybe something good will happen now with....FAE!
