Basic situation, unknown problem (with pics)
    #26415521 - 01/04/20 05:17 AM (4 years, 25 days ago)

Hello everybody! So I'm back at growing after a long time and now I'm getting updated on agar and all this new stuff. Very cool.

But for now I've just done PF tek the old way and, for space reasons, some cakes went for casing, which has been incubating for like 10 days now, and a couple cakes just went to FC.

Now I don't see why these two cakes aren't pinning. Like the small one actually gave 2 beautiful ones and that's it, they were pinning inside the jar already.

The colonization was complete, as I left them way more than the needed time in incubation, they are wet and see light. And of course I'm fanning and misting about 5 times a day.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

PS: yeah I know: dehydrator. I'm buying it

Whenever I had simiar issues, it always was dry substrate. I see you have humidity but no petlite to buffer it. If the cakes dry out periodically (between mistings), pinning is inhibited. In my experience.

Check out the Humidity chamber tek if you can find it. Basically its hydrated coir in a lidded tub, no holes or anything. If you've only got two cakes maybe try a smaller tub. Set the cakes on a circle of foil (not much bigger than the cake) so the cake doesn't grow into the coir. I've always had success with cakes in it.

The cakes would do better in a fruiting chamber. That wet box they're in now probably seems like a good idea but you're not going to be able to wing your own design with zero experience under your belt so just make something that works so you don't kick yourself in the nuts.
