Ime these are their own thing.
They made me super happy with no mind fuck/thought loop shit that I get with cubes sometimes.
The visuals weren’t like cubes or pans for me. I didn’t get crazy patterns and wall breathing but more of an everything just looks different. The last one I remember the curtains looked like they were painted on with chunky oil paint and the brass base on my ceiling fan looked like liquid gold.
Definitely worth running.

These things are already eating through the casing. I'm really starting to fucking hate these things if I'm being honest. I'm glad a lot of you got prints because I'm about done after i run these clones out. I'm not this bad of a mycologist, why won't they just fruit like normal without expressing some type of inefficient behavior? Overlay is not a use of energy or water. I'm supposed to be creating the ideal conditions for these to grow and i can't fucking get it. I'm starting to get real fucking discouraged lol

Maybe it is a spawn ratio thing. Have you tried higher spawn ratios?

The 3 tubs that I used 5qts fruited somewhat “normal”. My fourth tub was with the last 3 qts I had and it’s overlaying like a mofo. It’s only 4 tubs so

Yeah but at this point it's like 20 for me lol. It's just frustrating. I thought i was onto something with timing the casing wut the onset of overlay so it's disappointing to see that was a one off.

I'll use 3 in a mono, lower amount of spawn seems to work better for me.

Lol yeah man these are frustrating.
I’ve tried running my clone so many ways and nothing really worked. I did the same thing where I thought i was onto something and then I would get shut down.
I’m almost positive myc selection is crucial now. Especially after going back to spore and getting a good culture from tomentose.
My two clones are looking wild, the “fat” one has some weird looking overlay going on I gotta grab a pic later.

Are you guys using a special kind of agar to germinate nat spores? Cant seem to get any germination with standard MEA. Streaked a total of 6 plates now, some with visible spore clusters but no myc incoming still after a few weeks.
Any insights are appreciated

I use LME, I have found that tomentose doesn't give me the crazy overlay issue's.

But does it recover as well on shaking grains? I just shook my first tomentose jar right after jump off and it’s being slow to get moving

that's insane. Will you try eating/making tea with some of that overlay? for scientific purposes ofc...
