Here's my jars for LAGM but also an experiment with these. The jars are from 2 different cultures with different mycelial structures. 7 is the typical rhizomorphic one can expect with the species but 8 was a tomentose culture that had more a panaeleous structure than cubensis.

I'm transferring more today to see if I can get better cultures in the next few weeks.

I'm loving how aggressive this species is so far. I swabbed them on 1/27 and got a T1 on 2/2 and they already look like this:

Not exactly sure where I should be transferring from since there are mixed results from choosing the the fast rhizomorphic growth. Thoughts?

I thought the rhizomorphs lead to overlay but it might be more dependent on bulk sub and fruiting conditions. I can't see any harm in running 2 cultures, one rhizo and one tomentose to compare.

Lol yeah the aggressiveness is crazy and great on plates but starts to suck when it carries into fruiting. Natal spore plates are always cool though.
Speaking of fruiting, still waiting.

I’ve got high hopes for this one. You can’t really see but there’s knots under the surface and all on the sides of the tub so should be pins anyday now.

Lol natalensis ape cross would be wicked.
I usually get those colored drops but I think it’s actually the droplets magnifying the color of the dried or bruised myc under it.
One of my last grows looked crazy all the drops were different shades of yellow and blue/turquoise

I know right, I'm hoping to get some badass looking fruits. I already know the potency will be there. I wanna make something cool and let it out to the world. Something to remember me by maybe. I wanna grow up to be pasty I'm hoping the Natalensis puts some pep into slow ass APE.

Do you germinate them at the same time if one is slower than the other? That’s why I was concerned about trying from spore. Maybe mixing dikaryons would work better. Just got those dropped

I did with mine from plates. I dropped 4 transfers in a 100 mm petri. One strain east/West and the other north/south. You have a good point, we'll have to see i guess even a failure is a win.

If APE germinates slower you could streak those first then as soon as you see any glimmer of germinate open the plate up and streak the Natals. My natals germinated in 2 days, so I feel like they can catch up to the slow germinating APE no problem.

It’s just a wild shroom from Costa Rica. AFAIK the only talk of it not being cube was just me and nichrome a few days ago. His look a lot like natalensis, and I haven’t eaten playa but a couple friends that did said it was kind of a different trip than usual. But that’s the extent of it.
