Hi Guys I've been really out of it lately. Not getting much of anything done and most of my myco projects sliding into serious neglect.
I have not logged on in a fair bit of time and was skimming over this for the first time in a long while.
Two thoughts I had. One, for the person who was saying they were giving up on this strain due to low yield and not sure if the trip was worth it... a) They can yield light, but I have had a clone that produced canopies and flushed three or more times with pretty decent weight (I don't know what page but there is a photo some where.). b) I have not eaten them myself (I rarely trip) but I have had several written trip reports come back from people saying that the trip was different, and awesome. One also said it was almost PE potent. I have noticed some of mine have bruised almost black and I think that was the batch that guy got.
Two as for the comment here about overlay. I had ZERO issues with overlay when I spawned to a mixture of about 40% chopped straw and 60% coir/verm. I tend to think that it overlays when it has too much nutrition. I think coincidenbtally the straw coir experiments also had low spawn ratios so it is not entirely clear if it was the straw or the lower amount of grain in the substrate. I don't have any direct evidence of this but the no overlay stuff tended not to bruise as darkly. The fruits were also much more cube like in appearance while the overlay bunch was more like big pans. It is a shape shifter - pretty sure that was the same clone on both substrates that led to very different looking fruits.
I have a two quarter pint jars - one with a new natalensis culture and one with the old one described above. they are both fruiting now. Maybe you're wondering why I am fruiting quarter pint jars... they were sitting around over colonized for several weeks (see first paragraph) and I just said fuck it and rather than g2g ing them to the bags of grain I was NOT getting around to prepping I just spooned a couple spoons of coir verm on top and figured I would look for a new clone candidate.
keep up the good work guys. Grimsweeper did that vendor ever replace your P. Natalensis syringe? I told them mine was bacterial soup and I wanted a print and they never got back to me. It was damned expensive ordering from them so I"m kind of ticked off that it was so bacterial and they did not offer to send a print.
Thanks playa

I just streaked two plates from a print AKA hooked me up with, supposed to be one of the original Grim prints. I will put some on a slide in a few days and post it here.

That sounds like a great idea nosferatu.
I just recently found out one of the guys that’s been putting up monster pan grows forever does this. Never would’ve thought you could pull such thick tubs with no grain.

Looking good! What spawn ratio are you using Zif?

Man all those clones look good.
Mines actually looking the best out of any of my natal grows so far. It’s got a little bit of fry on the overlay cuz the heater was blowing towards it but that’s it. No wall climbing at all and it’s starting to knot which I can usually only see on the side of the tubs cuz the overlay is so thick.

@pitcher These were 1 myco quart to roughly 2 quarts coir/verm topped with a }2cm layer of just coir)verm

Shroomie that tub is fucked.
@Psilo our vendor is sending me a NSS print but they gave me a free NSS print already with the NSS and Natalensis syringes. .
I streaked both syringes today we'll see what happens.
Beautiful trays Zif.

Tub to Trash can then?
These are the next tubs that I have? Good to go into fruiting? They are about 10 days old.

This variety or whatever is weird. Try flipping the subs over to salvage any fruits then toss it

Maybe go directly into fruiting conditions. Don't give it time to develope anymore of a overlay than it already is going to get. Lower the ratio of spawn to sub next time as well.

Yeah what crack said. My tubs seemed to chill out on the overlay once I put them into fruiting conditions but it's only been a few days

Hope I can salvage something!
Do I just take the lid off ? My tubs are small so I dont have any FAE holes in it.
Thank you guys so much!

Seriously shroomie.room, I almost replied to your other thread to say I don't know what you're growing over there but it ain't cube, hell it ain't even rectangular prism... that was before I saw this thread, before reading much at all about this Natalensis strain/species/hostile alien lifeform. I feel like I'd have trouble sleeping in the same building as those things. If they start whispering your name at night, I beg of you, do the human race a solid and hit em with a generous volume of military grade napalm.
If it starts screaming "KAANNEEDDAAA" lmk and we'll call in the orbital lasers.
