Well what the hay with this overlay? Any ideas? My spawn didn't look bad, you guys saw the jars. I'm gonna give it a few days in fruiting conditions before trying to do something else with em. I don't like overlay.

My guess is the high humidity in the FC is what allows this to happen. Not necessarily the cause. The cause may be a high nutrition level in the sub. From the long stretched fruits I see in people grows here I'm sure they could do well with more fae.

I've done that with both coir and peat casing after overlay occurred. It just eats through it and overlays again. Overlay gonna overlay. I think it's more about genetics than environment.

Maybe a pseudo-casing would help

lol yeah I think just about everything has been tried. I also think it’s genetic so I’m starting over focusing on myc selection this time.
So far no matter what I pick it all starts to look the same eventually.

What if you needle biopsied like 4 or 5 transfers, do you think narrowing the gene pool would help? Or maybe a serial dilution?

Well I transferred a clone out to t6 and it did calm down some. But it could’ve been nutrition levels or something. I gotta rerun a bunch of experiments now that it’s decent cult weather.

It's just so wonky. I wish psilopsychin would chime in and tell us what he did because his tubs didn't have any overlay.

I’m pretty sure he just ran them like any cube. If you can find where he first posted I’m sure we all jumped on him for details.
That was the first one that made me wonder if it was all genetics. Or if there was actually a cube version he had gotten.

That’s another thing that points to genetics.
Look at grims grows at the beginning. That’s where my print came and I had the same problems. Then I gave a print from those to you and you’re having crazy problems.

I run like cubes, only ran in shoeboxes so far, next run I'm going mono and shoeboxes of course. Here's my current plate. A little bit is going into a LC tonight. If I dont fuck it up. laying a transfer on a plate aint shit but making fall apparently doesn't work well half the time. I end up shaking it like I'm working in a SAB.
The earliest picture I have of my nat's in my sig looked liked this, it was a little thick but I had actually given up hope and sat it to the side.

That plate was on the 24th. Here is a buddy of mines nat tub from my genetic's. I can't remember if I gave him a plate or print. I would love to take credit for this tub but I can't
His substrate mix is: 2 quarts verm 650 Coir 3-4 cups of bio soil (whatever that is) 4 quarts H20 Sprinkle of gypsum

Lol I worded that badly, what transfer number?
That tub is awesome. Looks like no overlay at all.
I’m gonna guess bio soil is compost. That’s what I’d call it if I was trying to make it sound fancy and not like something you can get for nearly free
