Envelopes are written out just waiting on prints.
Here's some oats (1 of 8) 9 days in with a few wedges each.

Prepping 10 qts tonight for g2g.
I changed up my oat prep to treating it just like pasta. Hard boil water then then dump the oats in for 10 minutes. Strain and dry overnight. Worked oat pretty well on the last 8 qts.

I see what you did there.
Did you keep running that clone or go back to spores??
That first tub was nuts with the knee deep marshmallow myc.
These less common ones seem to have way more phenotypes than the others. This one and Playa Uvita look like they have a huge range from what I’ve seen.

My last grow was a clone biopsy taken straight to grain. Tried it again but none of the tissue expanded after a week on grain for whatever reason. Had to go back to another clone plate and drop wedges. These are so fun and forgiving. I think one of my jars has (had) mold but it looks like it might be eating it up. I wouldn't put it in a mono but it's gonna spawn.

Woah, woah, and woah. Hit the brakes for a sec. You mean to tell me... Thats psilocybe natalensis is not psilocybe cubensis? What tf even is this. It looks just like cubensis..
I was thinking this whole time it was just another variety of cubensis..
Please let me know if anyone has a spare print I would gladly trade for some natalensis.

Has anybody tried these with wood supplements or something??
I was just looking at ovoid pictures and they reminded me of these, especially that one picture of the weird gill attachment.
Between the unique look, crazy myc and above average cube potency maybe they’re some kind of semi wood lover or omnivore mushroom that can eat lots of stuff and so it works with cube methods but that’s why the myc gets so puffy.

i do kinda hope and expect to be getting natalensis - but seems that mail is quite delayed and idk whats going on...
if or when i get it i hope i can contribute.
to grow it on something seriously woody/lignocelluloid i would not look at what the fruits remind you of but just on what substrates the mushrooms have been found to grow on in the wild, imho. with the habitat this i think is the normal way the analysis is made for choosing substrates.
but not telling you what to do or try.
its also quite the opposite sentiment from the conviction that natalensis is nothing more than an unusual and fluffed up cube, lol.

Fuck yeah, everybody getting in on it the ratio I went with in the bootbox was 1:2.5 I had a very small circle of trich in that tub Sunday, yesterday it was smaller, today we will see. Here's what it looked like yesterday, I wish I would have gotten a picture of it Sunday.

Looks more like some other mold to me, so it might be kept at bay for a while longer.

Yeah whatever that is I’ve had a lot of if recently.
It’s weird cuz I’ll see that dark green but usually it just sits there for like 5 days then trich explodes all over.
This is my last tub with it.

If you look just left of the pair of pins an inch below the top left corner you can see the little green spots on the edge. They just sat there for awhile then all of a sudden one morning the surface looked like this.
It’s like it politely waited until the shrooms matured before taking over.

I just seen a pic in another thread with bubble wrap casing
that might be neat to try, as the myc seemed to consume the jiffy casing right Grim?

ehh bubble wrap doesnt breathe, wouldnt it breed a bunch of mold easily? if it didnt in that case maybe molds didnt have enough to eat under there but i think we'd want something breathing more or the myc resurfacing timely
anyway cool that more have started to grow along!

It does eat through jiffy. I have a hunch that cutting down on the spawn might help with the blobs, we'll see. I spawned 8 shoe boxes all with one Myco qt each. Hoping to get it figured out then do a mono.

I had to throw out my mono this morning, molded before the first flush. I dumped it in a shady spot, and it looks like it'll be cloudy and rainy for the next 10 days, so it could be worse...
I still have 3 shoeboxes with 1 myco quart each. One of them I put a really thick top layer on that made up half of the total substrate depth. I also noticed this morning that all of my shoeboxes have pins so that is great!
