To me it’s kind of remarkable how different my compost Natalensis look from the coir verm Natalensis - both are from my original MS inoculation from the print you sent me Zifozonke.
Straw manure coir verm mix:

It definitely looks like they’re surviving on coir but thriving on manure/compost.

That bag of straw Hpoo coir verm Is kinda funky... over wet in the bottom third. I wonder if the conditions were better if I’d get better flushes of bigger fruits
I have a second flush coming in on that bag but it is only 3-4 fruits

Woah these are some beauties on the manure Psilo! It's crazy how different they are, apart from the sub the conditions were the same?

Zero overlay or even surface myc on the manure too.
Now you gotta do a potency comparison.

Spawned a jar to straight coir. Super fluffy tomentose on top, but pinning like a mofo around the container. Usually don’t have to deal with side pins and such, but this one has them all over and on the bottom. You guys think it might be worth flipping? I imagine there are pins under the fluff, but I can’t see through it lol.

You got pictures?
I’ve had more side and bottom pins than surface ones with natalensis so far.

Yeah. I’ll have to grab them but I’ll get them up this afternoon. Been less than a week, and I went super low ratio. Half quart to 2.5 coir. In a 6qt.

It seems that the feathery rhizo growth becomes the overlay. Or at least that's what my dumbass sees

I read your comments about side and bottom pins so I took my tray and ripped all the grain from under the overlay and put it back into a shoebox with more manure and straw. I know this is probably gonna amount to nothing but contam but its not like it was gonna do anything else, so might as well.
But before tossing the overlay I fucked with it and took those pics.

Yeah with mine the rhizo sticks out of the coir and then near full colonization starts to fuzz up and expand like crazy until it’s those golf ball or bigger myc balls.

Yeah. Exactly what I noticed. Super aggressive colonization with really rhizo growth, and then it started to fluff up. I’m considering flipping it, as it’s a project anyways. I don’t think I’ll be getting much from that fluffy stuff. Maybe though.

Nah, you won't, or more than likely won't. It's a barrier i think or at least that's what I've concluded on this trip. Like why else would the mycelium fluff up on one side and then fruit on the other?
You know how shit pins early if it senses contamination sometimes? Maybe this species or variant or whatever is actually super sensitive to contamination and that's why it's super rhizomorphic and likes to side pin, bottom pin and like "shield" the majority of the mycelial body by creating the overlay.
I'm super duper high rn so take that with a grain of salt or whatever

Like, it's trying to spread its spores in the best way possible and its efficient but sensitive. Like a glass cannon or pans or something. Idk, just ramblings at this point

Looks like it’s drying out and bruising.
Mad science that actually doesn’t look bad. It’s still pretty fluffy with lots of room to pin so hopefully it stays that way. I always seem to have the surface turn into a big rubbery mat and then pins show up on top of it.
