Those are pretty psilo. I'm stocked up enough on bulk cubes that I can dive back in deep on natal/NSS once we get our SA spores. Looking forward to it.

Thanks Grimsweeper
It’s hard for me to imagine that these are the same mushroom as the ones I grew before! Another thing that was very different is that the insides of these were white to tan and did not bruise very intensely. The others were very white but bruised deep blue almost immediately.

Man that 50g one is dense.
They do look a lot different, do these ones have more color than before? That was something I noticed with my manure sub.

A lot of people say I'm dumb for thinking substrates affect psilocybin/psilocin content. I'm not saying this is proof, but I can tell you it's not shaking me from my beliefs

Nice, you got the spaghetti look. What substrate did you use? What temps were you running? Any particular structure you used from agar? Did you run with the insane rhizo or fluffy tomentose?

Same plates and the meaty ones I posted a few weeks back but t4 this time. Again to millet. Used hpoo verm again. Added a bit more water to the mix this time. Tightened up the holes in the mono a bit more to restrict FAE as someone suggested a while back. A friend also mentioned they seemingly fruit better when there is a competitor/contam on the cake, so I chucked a colonized PE6 grain spawn into the mix. Was just fucking around and experimenting really.

Also worth mentioning it’s been crazy hot here the last few days. Tub temp has been stuck around 28 or 29 degrees C
2 quarts NSS 1 quart PE6
70ltr tub

So guys ... Weather's been great for mushrooms recently so I've been out and about searching
Here you go... Some freshly picked Psilocybe cubensis "Natal"//Natalensis??(unsure of which one but whichever floats ur boat)straight out the fields....
Check the long stem and small cap on fruit (far right first pic) and the green/blue bruising
Here was a solitary (almost white)fruit coming up straight out the grass-no dung visible
Season is only getting started I'll hopefully post up some more detailed pics soon.

Hey Zif. Glad to see you as confused about these I am. Also not sure which variety my patches her in Durban produce. They definitely different to the ones I find in the midlands. Always thought they were both cubes with slight variation based on environment conditions. I’ve grown out Sporespot’s NSS and natalianis and each time get something completely different. Even chucked contaminated cakes into the garden and again got something of a variation. Fucked if I know what’s going on with these. It’s been a ride that’s for sure. Would be rad if we could exchange notes and maybe even genetics. Got some pointers from other growers here with these but all just guess work and luck so far

The ones I've personally collected all along the coast (from Durban to Transkei) have always look like these. I've never had the opportunity to search around the Midlands area but would love to see pics of specimens collected from there. As I said right at the beginning of the thread I'd love to see the results of side by side testing/sequencing of all the different actives(pans and cubes mainly but there are others)found round South Africa and see what science has to say...that it is infact genetic difference or...are we just seeing various phenotypes being expressed due to environmental factors...

Any possibility those might be the Transkei Variety? I mean how to distinguish? Do they grow in different areas in SA?
Those look good
Also Cubensis found in the wild are different in potency than those cultivated?

Spawned this wild looking jar a couple of days ago from a print generously provided by OneOfUs

So far it's behaving quite well. Wheat grains to 100% coir, cased at spawn with a thin layer of coir into a shoebox. I have another one ready in a few days which will go into the martha I use for edibles to see whether it makes any difference.

Looking good.
I’m glad you’re doing the wood chips that was next up on my list. I’m gonna try running them on compost manure again since they seem to like it. Especially after seeing the wild ones looking like they’re growing on leaf litter.
