Hey,
First time growing Natalensis. Inoculated with spores.
I grow them in a small shoebox and in a 40qt monotub.

The ones in the shoebox (unmodified) got not enough FAE and look (because of that?) Spaghetti so I'm sure they are Natalensis.

The 40qt monotub has holes so I guess they get enough FAE. And with a deeper substrate.
Until now there are only pins and no mature shrooms but the pins look totally different.. more than normal cubes.the biggest pin looks already heavier than the matured nats from the shoebox

Can they look so different?

I'm pretty sure I did not spawn my golden teacher jars

Or atleast I was sure haha 😅

Now they matured...
I was so sure 😑 but but it looks I mislabeled something and did not spawn natalensis in this box..?

Here are a few pictures of the fruits:

Are this sub decurrent gills?

With any luck my AIO will grow at least 1 mushroom to clone.

That's how I got started too, don't feel bad. The AIOs have great SEO.

While your AIO is growing you have plenty of time to do more research, buy some tools, and capitalize on whatever fruit you get.

The journal in my sig may help explain a few things.

Hey thanks!! I appreciate it!

I read your journal too!

Thanks!

Yeah I'm going to buy agar plates materials and look for some more genetics while the AIO is doing it's thing.

I like what you said about having a few things in the pipeline so there's always something cool to look at!

That's what I'm going to do!

It's crazy though $25 for a MSS of p.natalensis!

That's almost as much as agar plates, nutrients scalpel etc.

I'm happy to share my spores when they are ready though!

As for making my own AIO bags...

IDK.  I like the idea of a bag for grains, because it's easy to break it up, shake it, but I think it's best to mix it with a sub in a mono?

Better FAE?  Especially for Nats?

My AIO bag doesn't seem like it can breathe well at all..  I can't even push the air out of it...

After your bag is completely colonized, your going to want to either punch a bunch of holes it the top at a minimum or just carefully remove the bag completely in a water tub.

The one and only aio bag I tried from out grow was a flop. Got mold, used a willy myco mss and it was soooo much less spore dense then what I've received (and given) here on shroomery ( for free ) !

Black cap nats.
What do you guys think, another day? Half a day? I’m noticing them getting darker every time I check.. but I wanna see how dark they actually get before dumping spores

Should I do a giveaway? Don’t see many people doing black cap nats. Was also thinking about getting some green caps.. I seen those once somewhere. Can’t recall where now 🤔

I'd probably wait a day on those. They don't drop alot of spore on the first flush generally.

Edit. Definitely do a giveaway. They started with me and I've only sent out a handful of prints. They're quite strong.:mushroom2:

At least another day, but I would say probably longer depending on the grow temp.

That's not spores on top. They get pretty dark if you let them go. Can be hard to get prints off.

I figured out a pretty solid way of getting fussy prints. I use a shoebox and a light mist. Drops the darkest of prints every time. I was struggling hard for a bit with ttbvi. dropping water on the caps and everything. The mist is where it’s at though.

@spg, I keep my tent at 80. These things sprung up pretty fast since yesterday. I think tomorrow night they’ll be good to go

The thing is they are nearly sporeless in the first flush. Not so much in subsequent flushes.

What do you mean they started with you? You’re the originator 🙀 and I gotcha. I’ll have to wait a flush or two then. No problem!

Yep, I'm the originator. Looking at the gills under the scope the first flush makes very little spore.

I hope it's the real deal! I should run them again soon. I gave away all but a few light prints, but I have slants.

(A few definately went to Florida where that company is located)

When you say they started with you, where did you get them?
