Thanks.  I didn't see a reference to gills when I looked up adnate, so I couldn't quite put it together.

I am aware of the gill differences, I just don't have all the fancy lingo.

the morphology terms are fun, especially with people who have no idea about funguses. makes you sound like a dork scientist instead of a dork wook

I love nat mycelium. It's so immediately recognizable.

Well, 14 months ago @derrayld sent me Nat spores from Africa. Today they arrived in the US. If he sent any to people still waiting, they may come yet!

Thanks derrayld!

I had one from him that was over a year also a while back.  They must forget boxes in a corner  or something cuz there were others in between that showed up in a couple weeks.

I had one one fruit in the corner of my shoebox with its cap wide open for a week n I noticed what looks to be mycelium growing on the cap and it was kind up against the plastic where it was growing. Then this morning I noticed some mycelium forming on the gills so I figured spores wasn't going to happen with this one. Has this happened to anyone else? This is my 2nd fruit so far. They both look different from what I've seen on this thread. The first fruit I picked to make a print had 0 spores. The bluing of the gills fooled me into thinking it was forming spores. Anyway here's pics. I'm hoping it's mycelium n not a contam fungus. The other pinning fruits look fine.

Mutants like that happen. I see it most when I have contaminated spawn or sub. Your fungi are probably pissed about something in the substrate.

Fruits are essentially specialized mycelium, in the right conditions they will revert to mycelium.

That looks like potential verticillium

Yeah I definitely had wet spot in all my jars, I recently found out the weight regulator on my AA was rocking at about 13psi. I bought a new one n it was rocking at 16psi on the gauge but yeah I've always had success with cubes even with a small amount of wetspot so spawned it to bulk anyways. There is some h.poo mixed with coir because I just prepped a big batch n was going to try running pans but they stalled out quick. So now that I found the issue and I'm also doing rinsing and soaking grains now instead of just a simmer or boil then PC. My pan jar looks pretty flawless, I have another jar with an unmodified plastic lid because I was playing around to try n see where my wet spot was coming from. But that one has a bit of wetspot.  These grains were still pc'd with the old rocker but soaked and rinsed and all that with 2 quarters taped to the rocker jiggling at around 15 psi on the gauge for 2 n half hours.

I'll try another run with clean spawn n see if there's a difference and I'll use CVG only.

I went back to spore a little while ago hoping for some better Natalensis genetics. Damn glad I did. I was eating upwards of 10g dry of my old batch which gave very little visuals and was an easy trip. I tried the new batch and with only 2.5g dry I felt like I ate 10g dry of the old batch. Still super fun and not "dark" at all but way more visual. Not in the sense of patterns but more melty type visuals. Things would deform or stretch and change shape. I think the first batch was weak or this batch I hit the genetic potency lottery. Either way I'm glad I went back to look for something better cause I found it. They take a week longer to pin and mature but it's worth the wait.

A new print or a print from your 10g genetics?

The good news is I’ve had plenty of nats while I waited. Looking forward to seeing what I can do with your genetics next year.

I’m in the process of building a grow room in my house for pans. It’ll also be interesting to see what a warmer environment does to the nats. I’ve been growing them at 63-66 degrees Fahrenheit.

Had one plate with rhizomorphic mycelium and one with tormentose that got put to grain. Which will probably do best?

There’s no relation between the mycelium and how well it will do. You won’t know until you harvest!
