I grew Yellow umbo which is a cross between Nats and Jack Frost by the same breeder/vendor this guy says he got his spores. Fun grow, I got lots of variation. It’s cool that you can see a blend of traits from both types in these but none of them are dead ringers for either parent.

thought i was going to let this culture die but AKA's cute little button shrooms and that reddit link kicked up my excitement again.

marshmallow shoebox at 8 weeks (3 weeks after pulling overlay), not looking great but also not looking green

tried to put the same culture in some different conditions with basically the same output. 15qt ez dials, one at 1:6 and one at 1:3, 10 days since spawn

i had some plates of this stuff break out into more rhizo/less cumulonimbus growth so might chase that while waiting for new spores to germ.
also not too worried about more mallow overlay because it's gotten rave reviews back from those who tried it. but i'm assuming without producing any fruits or spores it's going to dip into senescence sooner rather than later and might end up as wasted effort.

Hi guys

First time for me with Nats to grain.  It doesn't help that now Summer's over it's a bit on the cool side where I grow (45f overnight and 70f daytime) and they've taken about a month to get this far.

They were shaken just over a week ago at about 60%, after which they looked pretty much the same as when they came out of the PC; after a few days they got close to what you see now, but don't look the same as cubes did when they were ready for bulk.  Nothing much seems to be happening now :-(

Are these colonised?  Should I shake them one last time?  Or are they only fit for the great pile of spent cakes and tubs in the garden?

Many thanks.

Not fully colonized yet definitely leave em for at least a few more days

Likely some contamination but post em again in a few days

Cheers Screwup.

Worth another shake, or let 'em ride until next weekend and post another pic?

A few look a bit further along (such as this one) probably because they got a bigger chunk of agar, but I'm hoping they'll wait for the others to catch up.  Presumably they're fine as long as they don't start pinning?

(I'm in no hurry as the PF cakes I did at the same time as starting cleaning up agar were very kind to me).

I think they look fine, but the first two definitely need prob 2-3 more days. I wouldn’t shake them at this point that would make them take longer.

Natalensis seems like an awesome beginner friendly shroom to grow. While everything else failed, nats thrive. I even PC'd a bell pepper with some carrot skin and so far nats are eating it up. Early to say though if it's a good idea to do.

Looks good so far, I would dial the air back a little bit though it looks dry and like some of the myc is starting to mat.

Just covered both of the short-side cluster of holes with MP tape and gave it a really light mist. looks like good surface conditions with lil microbeads of water.

Wonder how long until pins start popping up, or if I'm gonna have one of those everlasting overlays I see so much of here lol

edit: this was supposed to be a reply to AKA, not sure why it wasn't.

Stopping Nats for a while, I've grown too many and just have too much now.
Most likely going to convert 500g - 1kg into gummies.

Busy isolating some sterile squats that are thick af.

I've been too busy and have had too many tubs to harvest, this last one got away and covered the entire mono in spores, everything was black as night so I had to sponge all the spores off.

They're excellent cups, I have all the sizes from the smaller espresso cups to the large soup style cappuccino mugs.
The warranty on chipping goes a long way, I've had many cups replaced free of charge.

Harvested my second flush from this tub today. Probably should've done about 12 hrs earlier to avoid the spores dropping but oh well. Ended up with a pretty similar weight as the first flush right at about 700g with this. Hoping the third flush will push out a fatty so I can clone it. I prefer thicker shrooms to skinny sticks πŸ€·πŸ»β€β™‚οΈ. (Just like my women πŸ˜‚)
