Man I got excited for a second when I spotted that albino pin in the tray
Kinda shocked nobody has had albino nat yet.

Coming along nicely for my first ever set of grows. This was one quart of oat spawn mixed with 3x the volume of coir on August 8th. Added a thin, loose layer of 50/50 peat/verm.
It’s funny, I have 3 other tubs made up the exact same way but not seeing anything pop up from them yet, but I bet it won’t be long.

What no way! What do you think they are? I’ve been really careful with labeling (or so I thought!)
I can tell you I only ever put to spawn APE, p. Natalensis, and Golden Teachers (and I have some pan cyans going but that came later.)
The GT didn’t go well in grain, so that’s out.
So all this can be is either APE that I mislabeled, OR, the p. Natalensis spore syringe I ordered was mislabeled itself.

I've been lucky to have an excellent Nat culture that was overlay free from the start and produced amazing fruit and flushes.
The pictures are buried in this thread somewhere and my grows but here's a couple.

Sorry for the photo dump

Ah, how I just love Nat porn in the mornings!
I agree, those don't look like Natalensis, oaklandish. I can relate to the disappointed you must feel. Had the same issue a little while ago, just with pans...

Ha. I’m just happy anything is growing. Very interesting.
This may be simply an APE I mislabeled, and that would explain why my other (probably correctly labeled) containers aren’t doing anything yet.

These are 22 days old since mixing grain with coir.
I think this is APE. I just looked at my APE pins in one of those boxes, and sure enough, these small pins look the same. The big bulbous one threw me off. Woopsy! Gotta be better at labeling.
Guess I’ll just have to be patient with my Natalensis boxes, they’re not showing any primordia yet, that I could see a few days ago at least. All these APE boxes you can see a ton of side primordia and pins.

That's odd, Natalensis is normally faster than ape.

Bear in mind, these are literally my first grows ever. So who knows.
These boxes were all created from the exact same process. All have the same coir/spawn ratio of 1:3, etc.
I can tell you the Natalensis spores I got were super fast to mycelium to grow on agar, liquid culture, grew fast on oats, and colonized the substrate pretty fast. But yeah, APES beating them for me.

My Nats the myc is fast to colonize but seems to take a bit to fruit.
This is the 2nd flush of a bag I cut open & a cake that i picked this morning.

I have some squat nat culture supposedly. Hopefully I'll have some prints to maybe trade in a couple months for genetics like that

I’ve grown A LOT of Natalensis (and I got my original print from a Shroomery member who lives in Kwa-Zulu Natal South Africa… so my Natalensis genetics are the legit shit!) (Thank you Zifozonke).
Anyway, I’ve seen quite a few Natalensis phenotypes and I agree those do not look like Natalensis to me either. Even my squat fat Natalensis phenotypes did not look like that. The cap and lack of any pigment are the distinguishing characteristics- I think you have an APE culture there. Nothing to be disappointed about at all!
Congratulations!

I reckon I should maybe try some new genetics for natals.
The mycelium on these looks great and has been very aggressive but obviously is slow to fruit if it indeed will fruit at all. I’ve been treating them exactly the same as the APEs.

I wonder if that’s why yours are so big, instead of growing two inches of mycelium all over it puts all the energy into the mushrooms.
