This was my last tub before I peeled it off

please let go of this culture... or are you training for the Guinness book of overlay world records?

You peel it off before getting pins shrooms or something? Or after a flush? First time dealing with overlay đ

Does anybody else experience severe bluing of your nat caps? This is the same tub a day apart each pic, They start out just fine until day 3 or so of fruiting and then slowly end up like this, every tub. As a comparison to my other tubs I treat the exact same I added a pic of some cubes.

Same type of tub with cubes

Actually once I peeled the overlay off I got some really nice fruits. Thatâs the same tub I just killed after itâs fifth flush. And I got a half ounce of dry overlay but havenât tried it out yet.
I cloned one of my bigger natal and itâs looking like a great culture, only I left it in the wrong place and mold started eating the overlay.

Nice. It's cool how they mature so differently than cubes!

Okay letâs get a consensus here. Last night I posted my brown cap pheno and was met with incredulity. One trusted cultivator said they were cubes and another gave an extremely unhelpful reply when I tried to explain why I was sure these are nats. So hereâs some pics of the mushrooms from above and below, as well as a pic of the syringe I used, which doesnât say âcubensisâ anywhere on it. Iâm not one to argue with strangers on the internet and I wasnât at home last night, therefore I was unable to back my post up with further pics.
Not trying to be self righteous here but thereâs a difference between healthy skepticism and deliberately casting doubt on someoneâs find for no reason. Last night was definitely the latter and it just goes to show that nothing here has changed since I left in 2018. I also want those two individuals to know that I really held back on this post. I wanted to go a lot harder with this rebuttal. I might come back here in another month but Iâve got better things to do. Everyone take care and stay positive. Make sure youâre eating a lot of what youâre growing and remember to be nice

This is what all my nats look like, I'd say yours look more cube than nat But I am no nat expert and do not know if different "phenos" are floating around that look like yours.

Nobody was attacking you, itâs very common for people to have the cube version thinking itâs natalensis. It seems be much less common lately though as people have realized there were two species going around under the same name.
If previous grows from those spores produced mushrooms that were undeniably natalensis then this one must just be a different more cube like pheno.
No overlay, dark caps, and gills that donât attach to the stem are all rare traits with these but standard for cubes. Having all three like yours is definitely suspect but could very well be an unusual pheno.
Personally I wouldnât be confident that theyâre natalensis unless prior grows or flushes displayed the defining traits is all.
Mine looked like this when I started with them years ago.

I was going to drop some Natalensis agar to grain and noticed a little something extra popping up on the agar. So a grain inoculation session turned into a transfer session. Nats will have to wait. I did use another culture to inoculate the grain so the it won't go to waste.

First nat grow almost ready to harvest
They may appear larger than they really are, it's a 27qt. tub.
