I agree with that, solely because it looks like a cube. As we say, a cube is a cube lol I grew that in a bigger tub than the b+ so it might’ve grown better just because of that. It’s my first successful mono tub grow so I’m still dialing in the conditions/seeing what works. Been doing research on spore prints, agar tek and making my own substrate but I think I’m gonna let these tubs ride the wave, start fresh and try more advanced stuff with my next tubs. Thanks for your input 🤙🤙

It's disgusting indeed. I remember now that this tub was made of a bacterial ms jar just to give mushroom a chance, with any other species I would throw it away, I didn't even believe it would do it, but it did.

Looks like you did a stand up job on your first Nats run. Congrats. And welcome 5280, this place is wonderful.

Thank you. The only reason it was successful is because of shroomery. It was a 66qt monotub grown with composted cow and horses manure mixed with cvg. I did a half inch psuedo casing of cvg. It is mss as I am a super noob. Spawn was 2 multi grain spawn bags. Thanks everyone for all the information you provide. 😊

Nats almost certainly
On another note, I'm more than a little upset your avatar is not actually Big Worm anymore.
Can’t you two please elaborate on this ID? I’m not understanding what’s meant by “…some attached to the stem…”
Nats have subdecurrent gills.
Hmm, didn't know about this. How reliable is this method of identification? I'm sure the shape of the gills will change depending on maturity, right?
Here's a photo of P. natalensis from a well-known breeder/vendor. I can definitely see the subdecurrent gills on the bottom mushroom, but for the other two it is quite difficult to tell?

Well one thing is pretty reliable about Natalensis - they are entertaining on agar. They may pass through a stage of being boring but eventually they do some cool looking stuff on an agar plate.
Here is my “NAT T5” that I’ve been running off and on for a couple of years. I got to the 5th. Transfer and said That’ll do and I have not put NAT spores to agar since:

Tried a mushroom from my last iso tub, haven’t eaten natal in over a year so I was a little worried the breeding might have messed with them.
I ate the one on the right, dried to 1.4g

Nope.
Still my favorite. Idk if it’s the genetics or because I was doing a psychedelic puzzle this morning but this time I’ve been seeing rainbow color on everything which didn’t usually happen with nats.

I'd say it's pretty reliable as cubensis never has them

iggycrop said: Does anyone know how cold hearty Nats are? I want to spawn-up some chip beds but I don't want to put it out too early and have the cold kill it. What kind of overnight temps can this handle?
I had a bunch of what I thought was bad spawn and threw it in a lobster pot with a bunch of old coco/verm in January. Filled it to nearly the top, chucked it in my garage and completely forgot about it. Weve had multiple sub freezing temps since then and just yesterday I took the cover off of it expecting some sort of funk but there was a nice little mushroom to greet me and now I have a lobster pots worth of colonized sub.
I have no idea what Im gonna do with it but I need to do something...
