Hey! Since you work in bags, I wonder if you took the lid off plates, you can induce pinning faster. Another point for ziplocks!

If it grows up the sides any farther, itâll probably push the lid off on its own! This myc just wonât stop.

Agar to t2 then wedges to sterilised Wheat/coir 50/50 in bottles. Growth started tormentose then went pretty rizo and no problem fruiting. Also did shoeboxes but they werenât as prolific as the bottles.

For nats is everybody cutting at the base or twist and pulling these days? I want to make sure I'm one of the cool kids...but honestly I just twist and pull my cubes with minimal disturbance

I'm going to cut shit off the bottom one way or another. Really it depends on how thick the grow is, sometimes you gotta pull some to make room because you can't get scissors in there.
I default to cutting but pull when I must.
-------------------- If you've never grown mushrooms before, here's how you start. First, follow the Updated PF Tek, put 4 holes in jar lids not 1, and use a water tub! The next move is Shoebox Tek. After that you move onto grains, agar, monotubs. Agar is easy, just do it. Other useful links - Picture guide for how things should look and proper surface conditions guide Growing APE or PE? I've always twist and pulled, but I hear some phenos are hard to do that without pulling up big chunks of sub.

I don't like to twist and pull, it rips up the substrate and messes with the following flushes, trim at the base. If you are just doing one and done tubs rip em out all you wantđ

I find that even if you pull up some of the sub, itâs more likely to pin again on that damaged part of the sub vs an old stump

I respectfully disagree, in my experience damaged substrate has a clear negative effect on fruiting, I have never had a damaged sub fruit 2nd/3rd flushes as good as a trimmed sub.

Could be that I wasnât cutting close enough to the sub.
This is the second flush of a pretty torn up substrate I recently harvested. Itâs hard to get my fat fingers to the bottom of this bag - I basically yank them out.

Thanks man. I did find that it took that flush a little longer to come in compared to subs surfaces in better condition.
Now Iâm curious to trim them close to the sub and see what happens.
