So I can grow out T0 without bacteria riding along (or at least are not messing up the germination stage). All transfers from T0 to T1 from zap spores this way turned out very clean.

I thought you could only mix varieties that way and not strains. Was I wrong?

Oh don't get me wrong here I'll bring popcorn to your campfire. I do hope he succeeds - I just thought it was impossible to cross species without doing mycelial matin, protoplast fusion, etc. but I may very well be wrong here.

Mixing spawn seems to work for anything thatβs capable of crossing.
Natalensis is a separate species, but pretty much by the bare minimum according to what we were told from the sequencing.
Iβm assuming crossing natal and cubes is like breeding wolves with coyotes.
Iβm extremely interested in how the trip from natal/cube hybrids is.

Judge Doom describes a Nat x APE as:
"And the potency is great, I really enjoyed the ride. ... The trip was euphoric and didn't have any negative load on the mind or body. Really looking forward to the F1s to fruit so I can take more! ... The APE X Ps. natalensis F1 'D' tea was very nice. Clean and low body load, but not as visual as I'd hoped. Similar to how the trip was for the parent hybrid.. Today I'm enjoying a nice afterglow!"

I'll break it down to you like this. Is is possible--yes, is it probable--no. It's going to somehow take a single septa breaking away without its mating partners nuclei being being brought over via the clamp connection, and then meet the other type/strain/variety (without meeting itself again) to receive some DNA, oh and they're also tetrapolar--so they need to find the right "mating type" to even be compatible with (ie: A1B1 x A2B2[ an A1 x A1 isn't compatible.]) And that stuff has to happen inside of a jar or in a substrate, as opposed to being done in petri dishes and/or flasks in a laboratory.
Coincidentally, I recently did a similar thing, not as a breeding attempt, but an attempt at war. (they were both already dikaryotic cultures.) Put 2 cultures in one jar, they stayed separate and colonized very fast(could see the difference even after shaking it all up,) after spawning they remained separate, the Natalensis created its bright white blobby spots on the surface and the other remained more grey and less dense but thick rhizos, creating a splotchy appearance overall. Nat is pinning and the other(not cubensis or natalensis) is not. Nat is a beast but doesn't appear to be overtaking the other culture, which happens on plates. Image below is that experiment. (some caps do appear more bluntly rounded than usual.)

Protoplast is for hybridizing different species or perhaps for combining genetics that don't match up compatibility allele wise. Forces the cellular walls to get weak(actually a diff chemical is usually used to deteriorate the cell walls) and the different densities and hydrophilic nature(in laymans terms) of certain chemicals pushes them into/onto/next to each other and allows fusion of isolated protoplasts(which requires other semi-complicated [for the average joe] scientific techniques to obtain) at a certain percentage. Different fungi like different amounts and different chemicals. Even if you do all that you still need to find what ones combined, did they pass the genes you were looking for, will they even fruit if hybridized, will they be sterile? Been hyping myself up to experiment once I clear off my plate a little bit.
Sorry for the wall, ADD was hitting today, and it's a good opportunity to write this out to refresh my own memory.

Found this guy trying to grow legs to walk out and get some fresh air
Second flush from Yoshi's Low Spore variety. Has a few with the weird legs, almost look like a double stipe. Also seen some short fatties that I might take a clone from(first flush was all spaghetti noodles.)

The overlay is real those were two trays with a 2cm gap between them. Well they become one after maybe about a week after spawning.
Edit: should I maybe throw a casing on them?

I don't have experience with overlay issues, but others have said they will just overlay the casing. They will fruit through that overlay if you just wait.
