It is so good to be back on here and seeing what the is community is up to. Haven’t been around for a while but the last I was on here I was hoping to see someone cross nats with playa uvita. Or with any cubes at all. I remember someone saying there was a nat x ape for a few generations but did we get any proof that it can be done since they are so closely related. Also, great grows going on guys, and AKA, I love those chonky bois :freewilly:

Hello all! This thread inspired me to get some snakes in the game and grow some natties! I’ve grown cubes for a couple years now and excited to try something new.

Unfortunately, I fell flat on my face this round. Inoculated 12 (1lb) bags from ms and lost 4 to contams, then spawned the remaining 8 into 3 tubs with 1:1 spawn ratio to coir. All of those tubs developed huge fluffy overlays and never wanted to fruit then contamed out.

Since then I’ve put the MS onto agar and then clean transferred wedge to a jar of LQ that looks ready to go.

I’m think aside from injecting with ms, my spawn ratio might be too high for nats? Is there a reason to should avoid 1:1 and do a more diluted ratio? Is there reason for the overlaying to occur like too much misting?

Any advice to increase my success would be appreciated!

It seems that overlay is genetic.

I spawn 1:1 in shoeboxes with a .5 pseudo casing on top. Have had great results.

IME, a much lower ratio, like 1:5; lots of FAE; a thick top layer of coir (2cm), and choosing silky myc over rhizo when selecting sectors on agar = less overlay. Check the link in my signature for some quotes on growing nats gleaned from this and other threads and my own experience; maybe something there will help.

Broke out my nats again after yesterday's freak experience.  I have had a jar put away of specimens that - when I'd tried a micro from previously- had been... oddly strong. I put an exclamation mark on them because I remember being almost alarmed at how strong they seemed.  My cabin is  without lighting in my storage room,  so I just read "Nats" on the label and measured a .25 dose by the light of my scale yesterday before going for a walk to town.  I couldn't fucking believe how strong that macro-micro kicked me in the skull yesterday. I wasn't full blown tripping,  but it was like I'd taken a half gram of my pan bisporus. Unreal. Checked my scale today to make sure it wasn't broken or the battery low.  Nats never fail to surprise me. Put some gill tissue from a specimen on agar today... :mindexpanding:

Noice! I reckon 0.5g Bisporus is a trip tho. Not interdimensional travel or anything like it, but definitely a trip.
