Thank you, I definitely agree :mushroom2:

Haha I hope it's some snakes for you, too. Such a unique one to watch grow! I guess you'll know soon enough, considering how fast they move. Sending some snake vibes your way :mushroom2:

I'd wait until they're getting soft if the spore load is low.

You can get them to stand up straighter by rotating the tubs daily and forcing them to grow back toward the light.

Thank you for those pieces of information :mushroom2:

The spore load is absurdly low in relation to the number of fruits, so I'll definitely be holding off until the morning.

Rotating is something I've considered doing with all of my monos since they have only one light source. I've just been a little lazy, I suppose haha. It's good to know that it would be a worthwhile task!

I've been doing this too, not really sure if it was actually a legitimate method.  Glad to know that I'm not alone.

These sneaky snakes sure take their sweet time before blowing a load.

You can see elvato's fruit all lean to the one side.
I'll take a photo and show you I have tubs that are the same, I'll rotate them and show you the difference once they've adjusted.

Has anyone done MS to Grain on these? If so how long did it take to colonize the grain?

For less than $20 you can send the spores to agar and greatly increase your chances of not wasting your time and money. Why would you send spores to grains?

That said, spores to grains can take days to weeks if they ever grow at all. Everyone is going to be different based on how long it took the spores to germinate and whether contamination stopped it from occurring at all.

well. strange things are happening with my first run of nats hahaha
spore print>agar>3 transfers>oats> 1:3 with coir and a dusting of gypsum like I normally run (though I normally do 1:2 for this size tub)

agar looked amazing, jar of oats looked amazing. the colonizaiton is going super well.

but I checked my tub tonight and it looks like we met a traveler on this adventure hahaha

im guessing there was a seed in my coir? I normally run my pc at 16psi for 1.5 hr and have never had issues with my grain before so I was stumped to see this

I love weird shit like this and as long as it doesnt hurt anything I think its cool as fuck

Probably because I started my research on Youtube and 99% show to do it that way. Hindsight is 20/20. Just love how everyone 's first thought is to tell us we did it wrong around this site.

I have already ordered new everything and will be doing agar in future.

Syringes are fine if they’re made well, I just wouldn’t make lc or expand the spawn through grain to grain with them.

Using agar was rare until fairly recently.

Natalensis clone tissue to LC.
LC is malt extract

Welcome to the shroomery!
Please don't take it to heart. The problem is some people on here think everyone that is new to the hobby has known about this site and has all the info needed to start right. Sometimes we forget that people start with wrong info and find the shroomery later. That said you will be criticized and cheered on here. It's a discussion board, and people voice opinions. I was asked the same thing when I joined here because I started the same way you did. Just take the info and learn from it. It's meant with the best intentions.

A few shots of the previously shared mono prior to harvest yesterday (still drying, so don't have a weight, yet; over 1kg wet):

Regarding the snake pheno, other than the slight increase in temperature, another factor that may be significant here is the depth of the casing layer.

This mono had a casing layer added at the time of spawning that was close to 1". The other mono I had of the same culture, had a casing layer closer to the 1/4-1/2" range.

I'm curious if there is any consensus on the affect that casing layer depth has on phenotype, particularly in regards to Natalensis?

Also, @cozmyc, be careful what you wish for, my friend! These are quite tedious to harvest, I highly recommend cutting them out.

Yeah I use double bend scissors to cut mine out. The fruit themselves, are like trying to untangle cooked spaghetti. I can't remember how many caps popped off and stipes broke during harvest but it was a pain in the ass. Side note they taste good fresh and by the time you're done harvesting they probably will kick in.
