There’s a long standing vendor that has natal super strain SS available that are labeled as P. Natalensis. I’ve heard that these may not be real p. Natalensis. Does anyone have any experience with this? I’d love to try these out, they’re super intriguing!

Some chemical analysis been done for natalensis: https://www.mdpi.com/2223-7747/9/9/1127/htm https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC8352634/
But focused on anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties, not through the lens of "why is the trip different". I don't know if any of the compounds mentioned would affect a trip or how, but sharing to share.
Note that the first link found spores being sold as Natal SS were indeed natalensis. When in doubt, nats are obvious enough on agar and in fruiting that any grow of Natal SS spores should be easy to tell apart from cubes by comparing to photos in this thread.
Also, early tests (Gartz 1995) showed it has similar potency to cubensis.

I don't know enough about how testing methods have changed (the method used in the above was hplc and tlc as described in Gartz 1989 and 1991), how the tested natalensis mushrooms were stored (it says leg. 1994, dried at 20-40C, so they could at least a few months old and up to one year old, though it also says grown in 4 batches, so maybe they were fresher?) etc., so take the above figures with a grain of salt.

I didn’t find cubes ungentle when microdosing. How big is your dose? I’m thinking of switching to nats when my cube caps run out.
I take 1/3 gram 2 times a day for inflamation (serious medical miracle the things, I was actually siezed up pretty bad. 6 weeks into the nats and I was pretty much cured). Cubes just felt a little grungy. the biggest differences with nats were all positive. I find myself in a better mood and able to deal with stress easier, cubse did too, but nats just feel more effective to me (plus cubes did not help the inflamation).
Do you take them every day with no breaks?

I had 2 people who got their hands on Natalensis. I think they found them in the wild or something, I didn't ask how they got them. 1 person took 2g the other took about 3. Anyway, they absolutely loved them and swore that they are the only shrooms they will ever take again. Basically 1 person said it was visually intense(3g person), the other said they didn't get the visuals until they sat in a dark room(2g person) but both didn't care about the visual. They both agreed that these gave them the mentality of young children in the sense that all their problems in life just melted away and they were only existing in the joy of the present. Everything was magical and they were full of energy. They really could not get over how good they felt mentally, not only during the trip, but a day or two after as well. They can't wait to find more of them for another go.

Pretty cool, but they shouldn't write off other species without trying them.
For me, the best effects are: Pans Azzies (or other WL) Subtrops Tamps Nats

I do. I don't find I'm building tolerance. I can still trip off 2g of Nat or Tidal Wave. I tried taking a break and it really disturbed my sleep patterns. I think even if I did build tolerance and stopped getting the mental health benefits it would still be best to take everyday when using as an anti-inflamitory.

I feel like this is set and setting related more than variety
Nat isn't a variety. It's a separate species.

Yeah.. I always seem to wait too long on Nats going to have to make some adjustments to my harvesting timeline, or try and get myself a low spore iso like the one Yoshi's got

They have tried them but they just like the effects of nats. Me personally I'm working on most of the ones you listed and prefer cubes over nats. I'm excited to try pans and semps but it appears that will take a few months before I can, after reading the threads on them.

Thanks for the heads up. I’m finally starting to see some knots on my first nat grow. In a couple weeks, if there’s really only a few hour window, I’d totally have ended up with a spore blasted grow too.

Yeah, I've also noticed that they tend to do it quickly/unexpectedly.. I don't think I've had a nat grow yet that didn't drop all over and they drop really heavily

For me pans BY FAR have the best visuals, but the mental and emotional effects of natalensis are just so good. Prob gonna try spiking my nat dose with some pans next to see if I can get the best of both worlds.

I bet that would be an awesome combo. At a lower dose nats reminded me of pans some.
