I will second that they are very beginner friendly. I had one tub that developed a little trich, I live in a flat so I couldn't get rid of it easily so I put it in a different room and then got lazy. The clouds covered the trich and I got two pretty decent flushes out of it.

have yet to see natalensis mycelium turn bad. had a shoebox that didnt smell.clean after 3 flushes. forgot to throw it out and found it again under a table some time later. was expecting mold but instead to my surprise, there were 3 or 4 fully grown perfect mushrooms (almost white from lack of light) waiting for me.. and no signs of mold..

I finally got around to giving these another shot from my previous failed attempts. I think they turned out ok, any input is appreciated.

Still curious about thought on making tea with nats. Planning my first nat trip Saturday and will have fresh nats available. Is tea my best option? Should I make it with citric acid? I’d love any input to maximize my first nat trip, especially for my GF who hasn’t tripped in 25 years and has some potentially dark stuff in her subconscious that could come out.

to tea or not to tea is a preference more on speed of onset and duration IMO.

Okay, so no need to worry about the tea making the experience less “nat-like”? And no reason to not use the citric acid with nats?
I was thinking of making a large batch of nats and having plenty to add to the initial dose. For example I was going to start with 20g wet and have an additional 20g worth ready to add on as I felt the strength of the mushrooms. I thought the increased speed of onset would be beneficial for this style dosing.

I prefer tea so I spend less time anxiously waiting to "feel it" lol the come up when tripping is the worst for me
I think that is solid plan, and I don't ever add citric acid so i cant speak to what it will do or wont do.

Okay. First trip with nats will be tea with no citric acid from nats unless someone comes along and suggests otherwise. I’ve done tea with citric acid with GTs and it hit me like a freight train. The nats are supposed to be a kinder gentler trip, so…tea it is.

i think its just a spin on lemon tek and per MushBoy:

lemon tek is a different tek. IMO/E combining them does nothing that i can notice except make really shitty tasting tea
the final tea reduction can be extremely useful when making edibles. boil 28g in 2quarts water, filter and reduce to half cup.
the boiled shroom chunks are barely active if at all. not missing much. if you wanna save them? gross but go for it.
**tasting experience may vary.

I make my teas with citric acid and I have had a better experiences than without. You can get away with lemon but citric acid is more standardized and easier to get the acidity you need. Lemon ph can vary so you don't know how it's going to work or how much you need. I use 2% of wet weight of mushrooms. For example 3.5g dry mushroom would be 35g wet(roughly) so, you would add .7g of citric acid. Primalsoup knows teas, so if they recommend it I'll go with it. Primalsoup acid tea tek here. I use the amount suggested for the citric acid but I powder my shroom up and put them in a drawstring tea bag. It makes it easier to not chew or choke on the chunks, plus all the material gets in contact with the water for good extraction. If you were using fresh I would follow the directions, adjusted to your amount, and strain the chunks out. And yes it worked well with my nats too.

I have citric acid and have used it for tea with GTs. I guess no harm in using it with the nats this weekend after all. I’ll be using fresh mushrooms and filtering out the solids.
Also, the one time I’ve done this I’ve used that exact primal soup recipe.

I add a pinch of Vit C into my mushroom teas. Me and friends call it the "Ascorb TEK" jokingly.

I just did my first nat harvest. 105g wet. Perfect amount for tea for two this weekend.
I really struggled to get germ plates going, I’ve been working these for months. Trip time is finally here!
Thanks to all in the community for the spore prints and growing advice. Trip report on Natalensis citric acid tea coming next week!

Well, I got my first nat failure...

This culture put out a bunch of decent flushes of snakes the first time I ran it. It blobbed and got trich this time. Two things I noted are- I spawned this tub drier than the other two nat tubs that did well for me, and the spawn was likely just a little bacterial. I also think I had some bacteria in my misting bottle because I had some weird issues with blotchy caps in a couple cube tubs. Rinsed it out with bleach water the other night to take care of that. I'm going to let this tub ride for a few more days to see what happens.
I spawned my first nat clone tub last night. I'm excited to see how that goes.

It helps extract the alkaloids from the mushrooms, it also makes them hit faster and harder. Possible downside, it shortens the duration, typically about a 4 hour trip but long afterglow.
Citric, ascorbic and acetic all work, probably others too. Key limes, lemons, vinegar all should work from the kitchen.
