Plated some Natalensis spores from a trusted supplier on 1% LME agar. I was hoping I could get a second opinion on this plate – the growth has been very slow (temps between 65f and 70f) and is not very thick. It doesn't look bacterial to me by the way the "colonies" are growing (I plated too many spores, the syringe clogged), but why is the mycelium (if that's what it is) so thin here?

Germ plates can be really weird.
It looks good to me, I’d just grab a couple transfers and see what they grow into.
Couple clones from my project. One is the small round type, the other the big puffed up PE looking one.

So I been seeing a few Natalensis crossed with cubes, mainly PE. I thought the lack of a cube type trip was the whole point to grow nats? Wouldn't the fact that you cross it with a cube basically turn them into a cube type trip? Would it just make the nats stronger and not have the cube style trip? Am I missing something? I'm not downing anyone for crossing them, I'm just curious as to why.

We haven’t had any verified trip reports about the hybrids yet.
I’m super curious how the trip from the ape x nat is though.

I have been confused by this too. I’m looking at my first nat trip next Saturday, I’m hoping that this is the dawn of all nats all the time based on what I’ve been reading about them. I’m more interested in pheno hunting the nats and trying to stabilize some than crossing them with cubes, but this is based on things I’ve read and not experienced. I look forward to eating and growing nats the rest of the year and then trying to stabilize some phenos while doing so.

I'm curious about them as well. I really hope it make the Nat style trip a bit more oev but keeps the feeling of nats. I've only done 2g &4g trips with nats but feel they need slightly more OEV for me to be the perfect shroom. Maybe more would help. I'm trying to get a stable Robins egg pheno going. They seemed to be more potent than the regular cube pheno I have. I also need to try the green eyed snakes which I cloned as well. Stabilizing a pheno is a long process but if fun getting there.

crossing nats and cubes is just for novelty, it’s like having a bomb as weed strain then crossing it with something inferior….just for phenos I presume

i’ve wanted to try mixing a nat & cube dose, like 1.75g nats & 1.75g cubes. i love the headspace & feeling of natalensis but they aren’t as visual as cubes for me, which are already kinda subtle until you get to the 3.5g+ mark ime. crossing the genetics is more just a fun experiment & who knows, maybe something super killer will pop up with some of the hybrids. why do any of us grow 10+ varieties of cubes when we could all just grow PF classics & call it a day? phenos & experimental shit is all just fun & games at the end of the day

I'm thinking the same thing about the novelty of it. Plus, there is a chance of finding some king of super strain with properties that either variety lacks on its own.
Plenty of fun engagement to be had.

I’m all in favor of experimentation, especially when it’s just for shits and giggles. And I hope someone finds and stabilizes something magical.

I got home today and harvested my Nat tub I couldn't do yesterday cause my dehydrator was full. This is from the 3rd flush, I'm going for #4. I was greeted by this little one.

Sorry about the shrooms scraps on my dehydrator, I just emptied it after a 18hr run and was getting the next batch ready. I cleaned it up when I was done.

So guys, I've read the first 6 pages and it was exciting. Can someone give me an input about it's potency (comprare to a "standard" Cubensis) and which difference people experience trip wise?

Done!
Now, reading all those heartwarming reports I'm willing to also jump on the Natalensis wagon as well. Haha
All that overlays and cottony balls are a bit disconcerting though, for a newbie to the hobby like myself. D :

You won't regret it, Nerex! Don't worry about the overlay, some have actually made tea from it .
In my opinion these are perfectly suited for a newbie. I very seldom get contamination in my Nat tubs and if I do it happens after many flushes, when the mycelium got weaker.
