Thx Adas! I thought that's what it came down to at end of day. Lol- honestly relieved i don't have to retrieve the dehydrated manure now. Coir's just too easy.
Any reasoning ya'll like using hpoo? Bigger fruits, yeah?

I just don't work with Coir. Locally it's at least 10x overpriced, and shipping kilos of it would be.. suspicious at best.

I use both to be honest, I'm just doing some side by side tests to confirm the higher yield with hpoo.
Coir is super easy but I'm not against hpoo and can get large sacks for like $1

All of these beautiful phenos including stuff I get in my indoor grows but outside I only get "mushroom" looking mushrooms. I have blob clones, 1 going to bulk for indoor grow and two more coming up for outdoors. I'll be curious to see how they perform.
A pint of Natal blob ice cream.

You can look for coir at garden centers or online gardening shops. I think they call it neopeat. Not the best quality but it gets the job done and it's 3 times cheaper than the pet shop brics.

Sent my first Nat grow to FC on 8/19. Looking for advice on what to do with two shoebox tubs that have big old overlay. (One tub does not have any overlay). Have three tubs of Nats going in total.
Should I just hang in there and hope it fruits from the overlay? They’re getting lots of FAE. it just doesn’t seem as tho fruits will grow with all these pillows.
1/4 inch casing layer on the two tubs that have overlay. Did closer to an inch on the one tub that does not have overlay. Could be a coincidence. Not sure.
Super psyched for my grows regardless. TIA

First go ‘round with Nats, I get the prettiest T1 myc I’ve ever grown.
And what do I do? I go and drop the cup, dislodge the donor wedge before I can get a decent pic…

I'm new to these so take what I say with the smallest grain of salt. I'm running different types of tubs to see what they like as well. Yours seem like you got a good amount of overlay, but don't worry my pins just started to pop up 16 days after spawn in 2 tubs spawned 2 days apart right from the clouds. I did go straight to fruiting conditions from spawn so that may have helped them pin faster. Just keep the surface conditions good and give them time. I have 1 tub with no top layer 1 with a 1 inch top layer and both surfaces look the same. I have another tub with a 2 inch top layer and that seems to be having less clouds on it and more of a rhizo surface.

Good to know they will fruit from the clouds. I just need patience. I feel encouraged. Let us know how your tub with the two inch top layer does.

You are all good. They pin from within the overlay, but they can take some time. Last few batches of Nats I ran too 30 days to pin.

mine never looked like this. that's thick material there.
the print i had received was marked natalensis "zulu". i imagine that refers to the location where it was found.. what other "natalensis" are there actually?

very interesting! please keep us posted 👍🏼
the pheno i get the most is this
it has a very pleasant smell, mouthwatering and quite different than cubensis. when eaten fresh it has an almost "metallic" taste. i dare to suggest this has to do with alkaloid content. the strongest (and most surprisingly so) trips i had had one thing in common, this hard to describe taste. you feel something is gonna happen before swallowing it, the body already reacts to the presence of this powerful substance. sigh, love it

is there any consensus on when to introduce FAE to Natalensis? for blob prevention and such...? This shoebox is 10 days into bulk and I decided to vent it...

being patient is probably the most difficult aspect of this hobby

Direct to fruiting at spawn worked for me. 16 days to my first pins. This is 18 days after spawn. And more popping up every day.
