Jakeoncid/Alan
Idk if more natalensis will help or not. Jake said they need 96 samples to send in at once but I’m not sure if that means different species or if multiples of the same count.

I do need to do some sequencing pretty soon, and when I do I'll definitely run that one"

The gill attachment and no partial veil remnant (extremely minor partial veil) is what really had me thinking it was different. I took this meaty ass clone so hopefully I can work out a canopy of sorts if they need samples.

Yeah the gill thing is really extreme sometimes like in that picture earlier. They ran down the stipe like a quarter inch on those. But then other times it looks normal too.

Looks like that’s gonna be a good tub.
I just spawned my first clone but only used like 70% of the jar to see if less grain helps.
I’m debating whether to g2g the rest of it or put it in a little tub with straw/coir sub.

Ah i'm glad they have the sample already. curious about the results.
Let's just say I'm skeptical that it is a cube but am skeptical either way. Apparently species are determined by the cystidia and basidia and DNA which means the rest can throw us off. I understand there are correlations and that many differences doesn't bode well but if it had the same ancestor as a cube and got geographically isolated it could have gone its own path with speciation.
I'm happy that it is an addition to the aggressive and apparently easy to grow species, is nice if its accessible.
Need to check the habitat again bit better and what it grows on. If it can indeed decay something like straw I'm not sure if that would really be what we want for an explosive growth. Maybe if it can eat something like straw pellets fast enough. Then again, if its not really treating coir like an actual nutritious substrate, thats a good sign.

I think we need to be careful about providing nutrition. I've never had a tub blob up like I've seen in this thread but I wouldn't be surprised if it had something to do with overnutrition or over watering. I only misted every 2 days really lightly on an unmoved tub with lid on regular. I think co2 and water content have a lot to do with the growth. Maybe they do better with less fae and water?
I have prints if anyone really needs them, like 8.

Another one of those cool steely blue plate pins...

By the way... I got attacked by bacterial blotch on the second flush so not very photogenic - but it was another full flush with slightly larger fruits. I’m spawning that same culture to a new tub of coir verm today. I’ll let you guys know how it turns out.

Man, so far this looks like a poor producing tall cube. It’s crazy to see the amount of work you guys are putting in to try and get this thing figured out. Good on you peoples 👏 I’m impressed.

You fuckers. I've never had a plate pin of any species and I've let dozens of plates go for over a year. They eventually just dry out.

You’ve never had a plate pin??? I think literally every variety and species has pinned on my plates, tamp and pans even.
You must use thin plates or something.
