Here is the result of my first nat clone.

And yes, that is green peeking through in the bottom right corner. I have been plagued by mold for the last 3 grows. I am hoping it is caused by me not putting foil over grain jars when sterilizing, and the grain picking up extra moisture and harboring bacteria. I only started doing this recently.

Yep, just regular shoebox style. No real top layer though. Just a sprinkle over exposed grains.
There is also the impending doom in the corner that may have had an effect.

How long til it pinned??
Maybe mold is the key here lol. A lot of the decent tubs seem to have little spots of it just chilling.
I think I’m gonna g2g a little of my clone jar and then rerun all my different subs but without rushing and messing them up.

One of us I haven't used foil in a long time with modded sfd lids and haven't had any new problems.
Spawned 1qt Melmac/1qt Natal today let's see if she takes.

See, this is why I started doing it in the first place... idk, maybe I use too much water. I remember the last few runs I had to scoop some out to keep the jars from floating. Also I use polyfill and metal lids.
I'll try the foil first, then upgrade the lids to plastic and sfd. I am certain my cultures are good.
It is stressin me out, but hopefully it's a simple fix.

I think poly without foil will almost certainly take on some water.
If you do make the switch I suggest Ball leak-proof (black). I used to use the regular white ones and they work decent but leak-proof are noticeably stiffer and sturdier and don't seem to loosen after a pc cycle.

That is reassuring to hear, for sure. And thanks for the lid recommendation. I will definitely check them out. I have had bad luck with plastic lids fitting correctly.
Hopefully, I can just foil the lids and call it good. Honestly, I only really started to go without because I forgot to put it on once on accident. The jars ended up not looking terrible, so I continued to do it this way. I hope this is my problem. I am pretty convinced it is now tho.

Right on I really hope I get a decent tub here.
I still never tried these but a friend ate 2.5g last night and said they’re by far the strongest ones. Like equivalent to 4g PE.

2 pins in my clone shoebox, spawned on the 16th. 2 pins with these is a win hoping more will soon pop up.

Nice crack that surface looks good for natalensis.
I’ve been lazy and haven’t spawned my clone, it’s got the signature natalensis rhizo fans going now.

I think it’s only been coir so far. There were two little tubs with sawdust but they didn’t grow.
I vote the manure/straw mix.

Psilo got the best canopy we've seen so far on coir/verm.

Here is another shoebox with the same clone as my last couple posts. This one is moldy too. I have one last batch of ten iffy looking jars, then hopefully I am done with this mold. I miss my monos, poor things are collecting dust.
