Picked some outdoor Nats today. They were pretty bug eaten, but bigger and much more dense than the same culture inside. This is the spent substrate from the shoebox in my sig. Heavy mushrooms. Pretty cool.

Was that off the 2 gram tea you were doing every few weeks Fridge? Or did you pep up your step?
EDIT:
Oh shoot! How did I miss those beautiful nats growing out of that beautiful statue?!

Great flipping work Fridge. It looks amazing, and really embodies nats well

Thanks guys, it's good to have a bit of fun on the side.
Melgo, that's a cool cap you got there! And the Tub looks good too.
Mycelium Juice, you got a good memory bud. But yeah I really had my 2 gram tea yesterday and I am glad I didn't step up my game, as that tea just hit the spot. Any more and things might have gotten a bit bumpy... I have slowed down a bit in recent years.

Yep, mines looking all kinds of sketchy. I still can’t tell if the colored droplets are from contam or not. It seems to be random to me.
This one’s taking it’s sweet time, there’s been knots and primordia for days now.

Just a plate pin on my NAT3 culture. NAT2 is currently fully colonized, waiting for fruits. Overlay is very mild so I'm excited about that.

Can anyone tell me if I’m looking at nat mycelium or mold yet? I’m on my second try of germination of nats from spores and not feeling optimistic, but my sterile technique is decent and I’m working in flow, so I can’t believe it’s all just contams, is it? Too early to say? I zoomed in pretty far.

I failed with some swabs generously given away on the market place, and after seeing these performing with lackluster enthusiasm, I ordered a spore syringe from a trusted vendor. I really want to get the nats going after reading the trip reports. I’ll be going to agar with the MSS this weekend. The plates above are my best 2 of 8 plates I inoculated with a spore print.

Not sure about the plates, ive had growth like that but that was from my messed up agar recipe.
I have this tomentose lookin plate of nats, it’s my first try at grain water agar tho

Id let them grow out a little more and see if anything better looking develops
If it doesn’t work out with the other spores I might be able to send you some. im trying to take spore prints off this shoobox, if i can figure out when to pick these wild snake heads

Thanks. I’m optimistic I’ll get these going eventually. I am pretty confident I’ll succeed with the spore syringe. The trusted vendor is one I’ve used successfully before. I’ll probably inoculate at least a dozen agar plates this weekend. I also have another spore print to work from if green snake pheno natals. I’m using mushrooms to heal, and moving into bigger doses (4g dried GTs) and wouldn’t mind switching to a kinder gentler mushroom if possible. I’m a slow grower, my house is below 70 degrees, it’ll be months before I have nats, but I’m determined to get there.
