It's very strange that myc is stronger than fruits, isnt it? But stronger than APE - wow, I wouldnt expect that.

I did not expect the same, I take 0.2 every second day and go to work, so I think 0.3 overlay of nat will not hurt oh, I was very wrong, but I had fun at work

Perhaps not. I've seen my rhyzo-ish Nat myc bruise blue when taking a piece for transfer. Never seen that with any other plate myc that I can recall, though I have seen grain jars of some cubes bruise on shaking.

The overlay on my tub turned intensely blue/green when harvesting and drying.

When I dried some a long time ago, it ended up white with dark blue streaks through it which looked awesome. Wish I’d actually tried it now.

Just got home from a weekend trip and my Natals are going mad.. (or I'm growing mold) I couldn't really see any growth on these when I left just 4 days ago.
These guys were spawned from BRF to pure coir shoeboxes 6 days ago. This is only my second shoebox grow.. first Natal. I don't know if I need to adjust or if this is just what a Natal grow looks like. Feels like super fast grow.
The cakes were similar though, I inoculated at the same time as some PE and those are not ready to spawn yet.

These are B+ spawned at the exact same time, though, from BRF's that had already given 2 flushes.. so they are tired. I don't think this is recommended, but I had extra coir and wanted to experiment.

For a better reference.. these are Golden Teacher, also from BRF, growing in same space, more substrate, but same ratios. These were spawned 18 days ago.

Found a swab in my collection labeled “lsd natalensis.”
Is there a significance for the lsd label? Think I got the swabs from one of our fine folks here

Streaked some plates 3 days ago with swabs from the marketplace here. Have 2 plates showing growth already. This one looks unlike anything I’ve ever seen before. Is this a contam?

Instead of streaking the plates with swabs, try dipping a swab in sterile water, and then pulling some fibers off the tip with sterile tweezers and sticking it in the agar, like submerge the fibers into the agar.

Thanks everyone. My first mold. Not bad for my first 75 plates. I’m assuming it was a mold spores in the swab.
I appreciate the swab tip for the future. Hopefully some of my other plates I streaked will germinate.

i was wondering what you think. this plate shows half rhizomorphic half rather fuzzy (on the inner parts) and then finely branched mycelium. can you tell from this difference about one or another type of fruits? sorry for bad quality pic..

I would use the bottom part, rhizo always gives me overlay problems with natal.

Nothing to do with rhizo.
Every single one of my plates has been aggressive rhizo, shit that climbs up the walls of the plates, and I've never had overlay. And I have grown a looooot of Nats

Glad to read that the overlay is active because I’ve just been babysitting a tub of overlay for weeks.

My first nat grow Spawned 27 days ago 32qt tub Pasty’s ez-dial style 1:5 p9 top-layer style
Not a pin in sight. Overlay just chillin’ and producing metabolites.
Guess I’ll harvest some overlay and dehydrate so I have something to consume. Maybe bury it outside in hopes that a pin finally appears. Probably go back to spores and try again. Sound like a reasonable plan or would you recommend some other more productive action?

I would say never gunna fruit mate but I’d give it maybe an extra week before you toss it. Had 3 such tubs and no fruits at all, just chucked my last one earlier after about 25 days.
I’m going back to spores, get me a few different looking isolates and fruit in turn.
