Looking tasty, DERRAYLD!
I am busy pheno hunting. Got three mini monos going at the moment. I like the fruits in tub #3.

It’s rare I get a tub of anything with zero clusters like that, only two I can remember. Looks cool.

This is the first Tub without any overlay and the myc seems much more "tame" (doesn't climb the walls, lol). I tested the fruit I cloned last night and it's potent.
I chose the most promising looking fruit from each Tub. Soon, I will grow out each clone in an individual Tub and update here.
It's a pitty sending cultures internationally is a bit problematic, otherwise we could all exchange cool cultures.

A few dry, colonized grains can easily be sent in an unlabeled sterile swab sleeve… Some folks around here love to send proven clone culture “seeds” this way. Just drop one of the dried grains on agar, and it jumps to life. Testing has shown that a culture on dried grains can easily reanimate after as long as 18 months. Likely longer.

no way!! that’s super cool, i’ve been getting into long term culture storage lately & am trying to find good methods that aren’t just slants. do you just let the grains dry out in the jar over a few months & then grab one when you want to refresh culture? or is there a better way to do it

The problem we're having is most of the mail takes 2 months minimum to get to the US and 80% of my mail isn't making it.
I'm most definitely open to giving it a try though to be honest.

I keep a few dozen colonized grains in my master jar after going G2G. Let them dry out for a few weeks, then transfer a few into swab sleeves to mail or into 5ml vials to store.

Cool! I will try this out for sure! More often than not a few grains will still be in the jar after g2g. I'll have to think of an alternative for swab sleeves though.
Thanks!

You could just use an empty Petri or sterilised container like you'd use for no pours.

Yeah, I use 5ml cryo vials for storage, but using the swab sleeve allows it to be mailed easily in an envelope.

Since they're dry they could just be wrapped in foil like a spore print in a letter, even mashed down flat so they won't get kicked out of the rollers and charged extra beyond a single stamp like swabs can:

I've been looking at low sugar LC (like.10%) in capped syringes in the fridge for long term storage. I know that takes up more space, and isn't as easy to mail...but is worth looking at. The low sugar and no oxygen slows down the metabolism and allows you to keep LC as long as slants I've read. I've heard storing mycelium in sterile distilled water is the best long term storage option, but low sugar LC is pretty easy to grow out then suck some into a syringe cap and put in a bag in the fridge. I've never tried a just water LC, idk what myc grows like in it.
I just put some of my first Nat LC to grains last night, this was from the less fluffy transfer I took...

My standard LC’s are only 0.2% and I think there’s a few people who go as low as 0.1%. They do keep pretty well in the fridge but I’d be inclined to go with no nutes (distilled sterile water) as apposed to a low amount of nutes for long term storage. I’ve started doing the water storage in 5ml cryotubes so I guess I’ll see how they fare in a year or so.

Yeah, I do mine at 0.1%. Idk why I put the zero on the end. There's a lot of people who recommend 4% for LC still. Back when I was doing the red silicone injection ports on metal lids with no syringe or disc filter, it did seem like they lasted longer. I feel like if you let the LC grow fairly thick it will use up a most of the nutes in a low sugar mix anyways, but plain water storage will probably get you a little more time.
How are you doing the water storage...are you scraping myc off plates into the vials, or?
