This is what has led me to look for other species that can tolerate bacteria, I don't know if I'm correct but this is what a lot of my research is leading me to think.  I need to try and fruit tubs and make substrate at a friends house who has a much cleaner space than I to see if it makes a difference, I feel that it would.

I would like to share my experience as I seem to be growing in a similar environment/conditions.

I grow mushrooms and cannabis in a small outhouse. My cannabis also grows in living soil right next to my tubs and I don't experience any issues with bacterial or fungal contamination... As long as my sterile work is on spot and my spawn is clean.
Maybe try it out and do the sterile work at your friends place (or in another room). Fruiting the tubs in a dirty room shouldn't be a problem if your spawn is healthy though.

Edit: Re-reading your post makes me think that you already did everything you could to eliminate the possibility that it's your spawn.

Same culture, spawned on 5/14. Big one is 1:6 and I'm starting to see knots on the sides, shoebox is 1:4. Quite surprised the big one is moving faster. We'll see if the modified tub helps, or if I'm just doomed to harvest spaghetti forever.

Is it really doomed if you’re successfully harvesting spaghetti forever? I know I’ll be pretty excited if my nats just keep coming in.

Haha you're right. Doomed is a bit dramatic. When they come out like sig pic 2, it's not fun to harvest and the sub tends to be pretty beat up after. I have chronic pain, so being bent over a tub for too long isn't great for me. After a few generations of selecting for green caps, they stopped standing up completely. I'm hoping I can find a way to get them upright.

Well I feel your pain on that one. I too have chronic pain and know how limiting that can be on this type of task. I’m totally rooting for you to get them to stand up. I’m just starting the nats cultivation journey and will be thrilled to get any fruits my first go round, but I would also dread the burden of a harvest that’s hard on my body.

Good luck!

My experience is also that the snakey pheno with the shredded stipes are quite potent.

I enjoy that spaghetti/snake phenotype. They dry down very small, and I like the olive green on the mature caps. Natals also colonize very quickly, and seem to fruit easily, so long as you can accept and care for the overlay if it happens.  The effects are unique and they look quite a bit different dry than a bag of cubes.
Dry Nat and dry Cubes(Cambodian Gold)

I was trying for a second flush on my previously harvested shoebox, since I only yielded about 13g dry, but the newly formed overlay started to get really ugly, so I buried it in the compost. I have some nice clone plates kicking of from it though, and I’m excited to run it again. I’ve only tried them twice, but they gave a beautiful experience. I think I like them more than cubensis.

Clone plates moving along quickly.

Two things always tend to surface when it comes to bio-essay/trip reports:

Nats tend to be strong af (PE level strength) & they are very forgiving/ uplifting.

Question for those experienced already :tripping2:

Would it be safe to assume that a 5-7 gram trip for some experienced psychonauts that like going out to the woods once a twice or year to dive deep would be manageable?
Or is that too much/ asking for trouble?

The best way I could describe nats is like PE potency with less :freakout::shakeface:

If they typically do 5-7g of PE then yes. Otherwise start with whatever dose of PE they are used to and re dose with 2g more if shit hasn't gone too crazy/ gotten crazy enough.

I went from no contam ever, to a new space where nearly everything was fucked.

I lost pans and cubes at fruiting to trich. Pans did better than cubes (100% fail), but fail rate was still very high. Luck or resilience, nats were the only thing that wasn't trichin most of the time.

Somehow during colonization my jars were contaminating, sterile unopen jars too if left long enough. Don't know if it was weird airflow, tiny gnats or evil shroom ghosts... I don't have an explanation, something was getting into jars.

Inoculating and colonizing in a different room, solved it 100%.

TLDR, nats seem quite resilient, I grew both and they don't seem incompatible.

Any advice for those of us who haven’t had a PE strength mushroom yet? My biggest dose so far was my last trip at 26g wet GTs made as tea with .5g citric acid. My next trip will be 4g GTs dry not made in tea. My next trip after that will hopefully be my first Nat trip. I’m a relative noob, not sure how to dose my Nats (assuming I grow them).

If I think the 4g of GTs is something I want to use as a starting point, should I be looking at 2.5-3g nats?

Don't take my word for it until next week , but I think if 4g of GT works for you that sounds more like 2-2.5g of Nats?  But, also sounds like we splitting hairs.
At this point of my life mushrooms are medicine- so if not micro-dosing, but more on the macro side of things- I feel like the most important part of it is set and setting.  If you're in a comfortable/safe place to go deep, and you have more intention then just partying- by the time the mushies hit you- you can handle a lot.  Again set and setting.  Make it intentional.  It will most always help :mushroom2:

The most distinguishable feature of the trip is the lack of body load, even at high doses its non existent.
That doesn't mean you don't feel heavily mushed and somewhat immobile at times but not the heavy load.
The after glow seems to be a big part of the effect which is quite great.
I often fall asleep on Nats and then wake up in an hour or 30 minutes tripping balls and glowing like the sun.
