I know some people have been working with crosses of Nat and cube (I have read this whole thread, it is mostly repeating questions by noobs who didn't) so has anyone been working with crossing it to other cube relatives like Ovoids?
Also, if you are going to chime in and say that won't work, please don't waste your time. Go and research how Shiitake X Oyster mushrooms are thing first so something like that. I am not looking for those who have't tried it and think it won't work.
I am looking for those who have tried it or are trying it. And not just with mon-mon mating attempts mind you, that is unlikely to work.
Nats, Cubes and Ovoids are very closely related and have some traits of a species complex undergoing speciation, as opposed to being entirely distinct. I attribute this to Pachyderms and a very long evolutionary relationship (as opposed to Bovines) but that is neither here nor there.

There’s so many phenos in this one grow! There’s sombrero’s, wavy caps, party hats, pe looking fruits, some that drop spores, some that don’t, really cool green cap fruits and a couple that I’m not sure what to call just yet. I’m loving the diversity in this nat grow! Also thinking about putting all my other stuff in hibernation and just running nats. If these phenos are reproducible, I’ve got my hands full outta just one tub!

On an aside regarding potency, I drank a 2 g tea last Friday and I wasn’t prepared for the light show that ensued. OEV’s were pretty typical just more intense but the CEV’s were out of this world! I did oddly experience much more come up anxiety than I was expecting with all the other reports I’ve read, but that may have been a one off.

Nice! I'm putting some nat prints to agar today. Which is everyone's favorite pheno? I've been eyeballing that funky green one. But to be honest, I'd be happy with either. Been doing gourmets for almost two years. Started cubensis a little over six months ago. The Nats going to agar and the tamps going to grain today is my first none cubensis actives. I'm not going to lie, I'm a little excited.

My favorites thus far are the green tops and the sombrero’s. This one right here has my eye at present. Seems like the light margin is wider on this one so probably gonna see if it’s reproducible.

could you please explain more about the use of seaweed solution?
This species has been a bitch for me to work with. I get good colonization, but always gives way to tons of overlay and just won't fruit, and seems to be very prone to trich if it stays in that state too long. I'll try anything at this point to get it to fruit...

Haven't heard of anyone using seaweed solution with nats or any species, but I have only been growing a couple years. The only other nutrition I add is to the grain, never the bulk sub; I use a weak brew of pu-erh tea instead of water for my millet for nats, cubes, and stone producers.
Best advice is more FAE, fanning if necessary, and mist as needed to keep up with the added airflow drying it out. I'll also say that when I have had bad overlay, I still get a decent flush of side pins. So maybe don't use a liner if you're using one.
Next time I select colonies on agar, I'll be looking for silky threads instead of strong rhizo or tomentose. That's what my clone myc looks like, so I am curious to see if that myc pheno fruits better from MS.

If you get mass overlay then start again with your spores, you will have no issue finding a green, snake nat with minimal to no overlay.

Nice snakes! I haven’t had the opportunity to experience that pheno yet. But I do have some chonkers for y’all’s viewing pleasure. Biggest fruits to date. They’re still firm so maybe in the next couple days they’ll be ready.

And then another party hat mutant. About 25% of this tub has gone this way…

There’s so much genetic diversity in these, if you keep rolling the dice you’ll eventually find something you like.

Next flush is already coming up. These bruise so easily... the surface looks excellent w/this culture though, and they seem to stay upright mostly.
