I leave the lid askew and fan them, and I don't get spaghetti. They're still quite tall, though. I think you're onto something, as IME more fresh air has been making a difference. Pics of these grown outside show short squat fruits with huge caps, though I've only seen a couple pics. Plan on trying an outdoor grow this summer.

Opening up fae just seemed to reduce overlay for me. None of the fruits were lanky, but I got some really pretty ones. All of my snakes and spaghetti came from running a small tray inside a shoebox

This Nat jar is going ham. I increased the temp to 75f and it really took off. Looks to be a couple days ahead of the cube jars made on the same day. I’m excited about this one.

Dude my half pint nat jars are completely covered by mcelium 5 days after dropping a wedge in there and shaking once. First I thought it's mold becuase it appeared so quickly but I still didn't turn green and is growing rhizomorphic. I also kept my germination pasty-plate with mold on it too and the nat ropes almost reach the lid already. It looks like an alien or something.

Nats are their own thing dude. I’ve had rhizos grow along the side and try to reach out of a pasty plate. They’re aggressive until fruiting, and they decide when they’re gonna fruit

Shameless cross post from my LAGM Natalensis grow log.
Quote:
Monday, February 22nd, 2022
I forgot to gets pics of my transfers before I used them. Unfortunately lost 3 out of my 16 jars.. two were bacterial and one got the green death. All the rest colonized extremely fast and looked real nice especially considering they were only T1s. A few more transfers would have probably saved those lost jars.
All the rest are coming along nicely and have some interesting fluffy rhizo growth.

All the jars ready to spawn, each set of 2 jars, left and right, represent one of the 6 transfers, so this will make 6 boxes all together.

Will give them a few days to consolidate the grain some more
Wednesday, March 3rd, 2022
Boxes all done. Each one has 2 jars or 1/3 spawn and 2/3 substrate CVG + seaweed solution. There is one other box not pictured here that has only one jar used as spawn since its mate was one of the jars lost to bacteria earlier. Some with liners others without. just because.

Now we wait.

Thursday, March 24th, 2022 Sadly I lost one of the boxes a few days ago again due to the green death, I should have done some more transfers earlier.. But 6 outta 7 aint bad.
Its been a long wait for pins.. around 21 days. But..... Pins be poppin

Boys and girls, its harvest time
These were the best performers, around an oz dry each.

These guys not so much

Each box has a few clusters of these blue / green snakes

One box in particular was almost half full of regular nats and these blue / green snakes, both of these picked from the same box.

Friday, April 1st, 2022 Heres some shots of second flush on the better peforming boxes.

Thursday, April 7th, 2022 A couple days later and the other boxes are doing the second flush

Some interesting variety coming from these. Luckily I never got any of the insane overlay that others have reported. I treated them exactly like cubes and they look fairly similar to cubes when pinning but along the way they show their natty traits.

I've taken some prints but didn't clone any of them like I said I would. Perhaps next time around.
Overall a nice haul around 150 dry.

Some people prefer manure because it is more sustainable and can be locally sourced for very cheap. If you've got a good relationship with a local cattle farmer you can get manure for pennies. Meanwhile coir is shipped across the ocean and is comparatively expensive.
Idk about that orbee stuff though lmao

Fun fact: Cubensis will actually seek out piles of orbeez in their natural habitat.

you guys aren’t using orbeez tek?? i saw on reddit it’s the best way to spawn your uncle ben’s bags!!
on the topic of nats….
i’ve been running into every jar looking bacterial (not only my nat cultures) & trying to figure out where i’m going wrong. does this plate look clean or am i missing something? the jar sure as fuck looks bacterial

spawned it anyways bc why not, but i’m not expecting much out of it

I've very legitimately considered putting the gel stuff they use for moisture control soil (aka very tiny orbeez without coloring) into some coir. That stuff is completely non nutritious(unlike coir) and holds 300 times its weight in water vs 7x for coir.

Coir isn’t nutritious for cubes and I doubt it’s got much for any other coprophilous species either.
