You said you had some that may be the cubensis labeled as Nats that you wanted to sequence though.
That clone culture is the same as the one I sent you which is confirmed Natalensis but I have also got prints and swabs from NSS which grows more cube like, has major overlay and a midly different high.
I now also have wild spores germinating from Natalensis at the moment.

Ankhseramun said: Thanks for the replies guys, so I have some Natalensis indeed. So after over 200 pages of discussion what is the general consensus on "Is it new or just some weird cube?" I mean the mycelium doesn't look cubey at all and the fruits also seem to be somewhat different. If they are a new species, is it possible that they have other compounds besides the common compounds found in cubes, possibly even toxic (I might be talking out of my ass, don't know much about mushrooms besides how to grow them)?
Psilocybe natalensis is a species. "Natal super strength" being sold as a cube strain was found to be P. natalensis. Not toxic, possibly anti-inflammatory. See this study for more info.
Simply from observing their growth at different stages, I'd say Natalensis is clearly different from Cubensis. I may be biased because Natalensis was introduced to me as a separate species, but I think they behave entirely different. It surprises me that it was circulating as a Cube variety for so long

Trip report!
I did 3g of dried P. natalensis fruits plus 0.2g of the dried overlay, powdered and mixed into OJ. These were all from the gross-looking overlay tub I posted a while back.
It hit strong and fast, about 20 min after dosing. A lot of nausea (stomach full of coffee, bad idea).
When OEV hit me they usually begin with this lattice over my vision, kind of crystalline or patterned, and this was no exception. Only, it lingered on top of the other OEVs for a long time, instead of fading like usual. Flat surfaces were blooming/blossoming kaleidoscopically, woodgrain running like rivers. Sunlight through the windows seemed to split into green, yellow and purple when they hit objects at certain angles. CEVs were formless explosions of rainbow colors against blackness.
My trip buddy and I kept saying "these are strong" "These are really strong". The first nat tub I grew had no overlay and felt as strong as cubes on 3.5g. These hit like PE. Felt stronger than my last trip, which was 4g of tamps.
Visuals were peaking, beautiful, but overwhelming and making me tear up. I had to lay down. One thought after another came into my head like an avalanche (Buddy: "Are you OK?" me: "These are really strong" lol). I was becoming other people, in particular my family members, my sibling, my dad, my mom. A lot of empathy. I missed a lot of people terribly.
A family member is about to have major surgery, and I've had a lot of anxiety about it, because it's risky, and a big change, and thinking about the surgery while tripping, I was struck by how pessimistic my default thinking is, and felt a nervous impatience to get to optimism as a default mode faster. Kept thinking about being in the now, which recurs on my trips, about getting out of my own head/breaking free of rumination when I'm sober.
Cuddled a lot, body euphoria for the last 2.5 hours of the trip, ate a pastry. Ended with the usual feelings of gratitude and wanting to do better for the people important to me.

I'm extremely interested in your tent setup. I'm getting ready to build something similar, despite my limited capacity for DIY (DIM?) projects. Could you go into some detail on what you used and how? Thanks very much in advance.

Thanks for the report, but next time for proper assessment, avoid any other drugs. Coffee is a no-go for me when tripping, because it really intensifies the trip and the physical side-effects (esp. blood pressure). Try it next time without any coffee and I can guarantee you it won't be as strong.
4g of Tamps is a HUGE dose, most I've taken was 2g and even these were old

Those infected Nat tubs did some weird shit. Should I clone them anyway?

Adas: Glad someone else mentioned this... I don't even like to use caffeinated teas for my water extractions, honestly. Always noticed a very clear difference, come-ups with decaf teas don't make me nearly as anxious.
Schpat: As long as there's no bacteria running up through the stems, shouldn't be an issue. Just depends if you want a culture of those kind of fruits. (I think they look very interesting!) Im working on something similar, a PE-style culture.
Is rosecomb not a cloneable mutation? The plate happened to make a couple pins, and it doesn't look like it carried-over...

No rosecomb is a mutation generally caused by chemicals.

Something is definitely wrong with my natty LAGM tubs. Looks like the myc is fighting some sort of bacteria. Very heavy overlay which is typical of Nat but these big bulbous yellow things I haven’t a clue on. They were spawned 20 days ago:

Agree. I had around 20 different cultures of Nats that I ran in shoeboxes and I saw things just like this - weird patches that oozed some yellow metabolites. This is one of several ways they grow differently from cubes. They still fruited great and produced some solid yields. Just keep being patient and waiting. For me personally my MS Nats tended to be slow to fruit.

Ok thanks both of you. Yeah I though for sure something was up. This is my first time with a non cube though. They smell okay to me, nothing overly sweet or fermented or anything like that. Guess I’ll just play the waiting game!

I have pretty much the same thing on my weird tubs, just big white clouds that ooze metabolites. I definetly susspect some contam, but they are fruiting anyway.

One box is 25 days from spawn to pins and the other is 27 days.
My last Nat grow also took about a month to pin.

Ok, that makes me feel a bit better! Guess I’ll wait it out and take some clones. What are they like for printing? I started my culture from a swab.

They print great. My first Nat grow, which was my first ever grow, I was so excited to take prints that I forgot to take clones.
