Some Nats DGAF about contam.
First shoebox had three spots of trich where there was no overlay. But then the overlay started eating it. The tub got pretty moist and when I mopped up the pools of water most of the green came with it. It has not grown back. I was getting about ready to toss this box because it was spawned a month ago but this morning was pleasantly surprised by primordia/pins.

Then there's this tub that grew mad very wet overlay, also spawned a month ago.

In the top corner, you can see a piece of overlay I ripped off a couple of days ago and left in the tub to see if it would bruise. Well, two days later it oozed out all that brown liquid and looked gross, but right next it is this fine little pin.

I've mopped up all the brown liquid with several paper towels and Im going to let the box ride for at least a few days.

Yup! Not a perfect flush but the martha is still new to me and I am learning how to dial it in as I go.

Schpat, I had the exact same experience with Nats vs green mold. There was a LOT of it, the whole side of the bag. They did not care. Covered part of it and fruited anyway. I would have kept it for a 2nd flush but the water was so green when I rinsed the block I just couldn't have it in my house anymore...

It seems I had some success in germinating Natalensis spores at last, after two weeks of waiting... Is it normal for the mycelium to look completely different than regular cube mycelium? It looks like a damn cotton ball, never seen growth like this.
I have two plates inoculated with a spore swab, both show the same kind of growth. When I'm going to do transfers should I look for something or just do it like normal cube mycelium? I'm kinda confused by how dense the mycelium grows. Don't really know where to cut it.

So you're saying it's mold? Well we'll see in a few days, I'll let it ride for now since the A+ spores i inoculated from a swab on the same same day on same agar took the same amount of time and they look clean.

Bobo, I'm commenting on other posters saying it's doing okay work fruiting in the presence of mold, which is novel compared to cubensis, marginally, if one is to be conservative
With bacteria it produces overlay abs fruits off this in our cubensis like environments. That's my workings theory anyway

That looks about right for Natalensis, pretty much how mine looked. Just transfer till you're sure it's clean.
You could select for tomentose, was it AKA that was saying that? I dunno I never got anything that wasn't tomentose so I just got mine clean and went to grain.

If anyone's looking for a nat print, I am giving some away in the Marketplace (US only this time, might do international next time).

Thanks for the replies guys, so I have some Natalensis indeed. So after over 200 pages of discussion what is the general consensus on "Is it new or just some weird cube?" I mean the mycelium doesn't look cubey at all and the fruits also seem to be somewhat different. If they are a new species, is it possible that they have other compounds besides the common compounds found in cubes, possibly even toxic (I might be talking out of my ass, don't know much about mushrooms besides how to grow them)?

They are definitely not cubes, Alan Rockefeller has sequenced them.
The mycelium looks the same as cubensis for me, I don't have overlay issues either.

Psilocybe natalensis is a species. "Natal super strength" being sold as a cube strain was found to be P. natalensis. Not toxic, possibly anti-inflammatory. See this study for more info.

It's genetically confirmed not a cube, but very close. Trip reports indicate a somewhat different experience. But there is also some confusion regarding mislabeling by vendors.

You said you had some that may be the cubensis labeled as Nats that you wanted to sequence though.
