WTF? I think you have something else growing in there. Theres no way thats a psylocibe culture.
It's becoming sentient. Looks like a sea sponge.

Ow, it went wilder about a week later and sporulated I pulled 4 swabs for a few people, and took several tissue and gil samples to work with it further.

The first one was found at the foot of a Nat and I thought it was a sclerotia, but than leaned to it was a pin that got trapped between mycelium layers and got squished... and than next flush found more... there has been 9 in a shoebox with more proper look Natalensis..
They definitely blue. The inside was a solid mass with some voids, and I could see gill tissues inside around the voids.

Crazy!
I think I see an eye in the bottom one in the first photo.
Eat one yet?
Everyone on here needs a buddy who loves all drugs and will stick anything in their mouth, as long as it's free.
Shulgin had a few of those. Owsley probably had a few hundred.

Thanks! I feel a litter better knowing that this isn't the only occurrence.
The large one is possible on the menu for science this weekend.

it's not NAT if this cotton candy shit didn't happen...lol.
I had to deal with it for 2 flushes, 3rd, 4th, and the current 5th flush behaves more like cubes.
For my next grow, I am going to intentionally keep humidity at low 80s and see if overlay situation will improve.

No overlay and good consistent flushes, it's very much about the isolate and not so much environmental imo.
got some pics buddy? too bad the spores from Fridgedoor never arrived, I was hoping to try some "OG" Nats from the motherland.
If we all start to isolate certain genetic characteristics, I see a future of whole bunch of different "varieties" like cubes.
Speaking of varieties, anyone ever got an albino NAT yet?

I think what SBurns has there is very related to blobs, yes, and also to Enigma.
Blobs are I believe basically hyphal knots that never become primordia, for some reason (probably in the gene regulation), no differentiation of tissue is triggered. Wish I knew more about the "embryology" of mushrooms cause its fascinating.
Anyway regular blobs are relatively common as we know, particularly with varieties that are a bit genetically fucked. But quite a bit more rare are blobs that do have some tissues that could be differentiated in bizarre and chaotic ways. Makes you think of a teratoma. I think I have seen blobs that had lots of goldenbrown patches exactly like caps of cubes but without any of the shape/form; and also my cross of Enigma initially made blobs but then at some point after they have grown amorphously turn into fruits after all, with all sorts of crazy shapes.
So I think the strain Sburns has there does something like the half golden blobs, is able to differentiate into gill tissue (and apparently with healthy development which is always great news) but isn't able to differentiate into much else.
Makes you wonder what you get if you cross 2 of these weirdo's that can each only differentiate one type of tissue from blobs. xD

Yeah. Those look like a mutant. But the first picture... looked like nothing I've ever seen. You should clone and save that culture . I'm sure there are plenty of people who would like to play white it.

They're odd jomanda, I have Nats that start the same and then straighten out, second flush all stay like snakes. Very odd indeed.

I've had nats grow straight and then turn in to spaghetti over night, and I've had speghetti suddenly decide to grow straight. Nats are untamable

Ape pheno grainspawn + snakes =

Shy fruiting in the corner there, Mr ape
Okay looks like just mixing grainspawn doesn't work reliably, guess I'll have to learn myself the spore dilution business
