Nay too shabby! How do you deal with all the sub? I see the Faht’s shake in the bag method is supposed to work pretty well

I prepare my coir in a 30L bucket with verm and transfer to the monotub when I'm mixing the spawn and sub together. That's it just mix by hand in a big tub, if it's smaller shoeboxes then I shake everything up in the garbage bag I use for the liner.

My bad for not being clear. I mean how do you deal with all the sub left on the fruits after harvest?
See since I’ve gotten established, I just take it easy and cut it off as I harvest. Probably lose a LOT of mass but it doesn’t really bother me to be honest.

Oh right I dry the mush then rub it off by hand. I do make an effort to twist the mush off to remove as little sub as possible.

Yeah, good shout. I usually find when I’m jarring up a harvest it’s at like 5:50 in a morning and I’m just trying to throw them all in real quick so I’m not late for work.
Not really a great system when I think about it now
Will have the luxury of not doing that tomorrow morning though. I did my best to remove most of the sub from my TAT shoebox but I know there definitely is still some there. Need to take some swabs in an hour or so. They’re sat on a dinner plate wrapped in kitchen towel at the minute from last night. I just need to get the right amount of drunk where I feel I’ll enjoy taking swabs

We’ve seen a couple nat cultures that were insanely productive. I think either c10 or sock had one that did like 3.5oz per quart.
Faht did you use a normal amount of spawn? This is one of the most interesting thjngs to me, how some cultures can produce 5x as much as others with the same energy.

Apologies if it’s already been talked about, but do these smell better than cubes in the dehydrator? My mom had to use the room I was drying in and I kept apologizing for the smell and she said it wasn’t that bad, and when I finally got in there, yeah, thought they smelled like someone baked some chocolates or something. Didn’t have the thing packed tho, so.

This recent batch are okay but definitely more pungent than cubes.
Harvested another 90g so 600g all in from 750ml spawn.
That 3.5 oz per qt is crazy Aka.

Every once in a while a horrified and baffled noob posts a pic like that on Reddit. "WHY DID MY SHROOMS TURN BLACK AND MOLDY OVERNIGHT??"
Anyone here ever eaten any thick black spore-splort shrooms like that? I'm curious. Not curious enough to do it.
Though I did eat some X7X I let go like that intentionally, but the splort was light, thin, and pinkish, not black and thick:

Re spores - I was curious and actually licked a layer of spore off a purple black cap and could barely taste anything.
Still anyone without experience will look at dried spores out shrooms and think you are trying to poison them so…
Grind up and put in chocolate or brew up into tea and make ice cubes for a summer party. 😎

I've been having good results twisting, then rubbing the base of the shroom with a wadded up piece of toilet paper before drying. A wad of about 5 pieces of TP can do a shoebox.
