Flush #5 or #6, still going decently... flip your blocks, folks! I thought this one was done but it's still got life.

...Idk if that one's got a minor case of rosecomb or if the cap just split and grew weird. You'd think if it was a mutation, it wouldn't have shown up so late?
Also, this closet will be strictly for exotics from henceforth.
(edit) ...it was rosecomb. Might clone her.

I would let that go for at least 4-5 days to see if you can identify a sector that looks unique. Perhaps it is growing faster than other sectors, or it is very rhizomorphic, or whatever trait you might be interested in. In your picture there isn’t enough mycelium to determine what you are transferring. If you had a lot of contamination present it might be wise to transfer that early - but that plate looks pretty clean to me. Time will tell…

I wanted to share an observation that might be helpful to some - we can add heat tolerance to their list of awesome characteristics
I've been a bit quiet the last month or so, life got in the way, and my shed got cold.
I have a neglected tub that is living in 30f (night) and 50-60f (day) temps, and it's fruiting normally.
A little slower, but the lack of heat doesn't seem to have bothered it materially. I was previously growing them at close to constant 80f.
Oh boy, you better watch out and label and store them separately.. These fuckers are gonna be like 3-4x more potent than normal Nats.

None of our sponsors do. Do you use discord? I can link you to the spore trading discord.

If nothing else pans out, I have a good number of prints from my most recent tubs. I’d be happy to send a couple your way.

This is a new one. Never seen such rhizomorphic aerial mycelium in a grain jar before. This photo kind of flattens the depth perception a bit - the mycelium reaching up is not against the glass, it's spread out across the surface of the grain and transferred agar wedge. I can't wait to see what it does as the jar progresses.

That aerial growth is exactly the type of culture I had forever when I started natal.
It broke through my liners every tub, covered the lids of my plates and made inch or more rubbery layers of myc before pinning.
Then it would pin a handful of big long gnarly mushrooms that were crazy potent.

I've seen this in a few of my jars, but they were bacterial (sweet smell), so I can't tell if it was genetic trait or caused by the poor conditions.

Neat! Mine is that a bit not nearly as tall though. Should have taken a pic before I cased it.
Taking a natal micro today from invitro pins on a pf cake. Around .3 when my usual cube is .4-.5
Will report back.

do you think a real casing would help?

My 2 grain jars of clones had crazy aerial mycelium that reached up about an inch and nickelodeon splats all over the jars. I was surprised because if this were a jar of cubes, I would have been sure they were bacterial. But I don't think my nat jars were, just really aggressive.

I tried a casing and a normal .5 inch top layer and neither helped. Adding hwfp didn’t do anything either.
Less spawn seemed to help some, if I still had the culture I’d probably try mixing the spawn with a little coir so that layer was like an inch deep and then adding a couple inches of only coir on top. I have no reason to think that would help either but it’s about the only thing I didn’t try. At the time no top layer was the thing.
