I probably left half the overlay on the sub, so close to 30% of the growth was myc mass.

Might be longer-lasting natural self-contained psilohuasca. Thread on MAOIs naturally occuring in mycelium: https://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/27528195/fpart/1/vc/1
Would be funny if in a year people are growing P-Nat for just the overlay.

It seems like I am lucky, that I never get these overlay blobs with my nats. Maybe I just got lucky with the clone culture I got... I guess it's more genetics than being environmental.
I buried some spent cakes a few weeks back and I am fascinated by how different they grow outdoors.

I never got overlay either but all this talk of it makes me wanna go back to spore and test out eating it dried.

I have to admit that I am kind of intrigued by it myself. Especially if the MAOI levels are higher, as suspected by some members.
Maybe one should send a sample of overlay to a lab. Or has someone done that already? To see an analysis would definitely be interesting.

Me neither . These buried substrate blocks produced the typical spaghetti fruits indoors. These seem to have some growing to do still, so I expect them to become quite huge.

Yeah outdoor is always way different.
If you really want to see a crazy change check out some outdoor tamps. They don’t even resemble indoor tamps.

Are those both P-Nats? Or P-Nats and a Cube?
If not, have you buried Cubes outside? Do P-Nats grow more robustly outside, in your observation?

They look perfect for printing! I was secretly hoping mine would grow out that way.
Meanwhile in Tub #3. Not gonna give me printables.

These are the largest fruit I got. This tub got cranky in the pan tent and pinned late. They may be larger as they had more oxygen early in life, verse my other tubs that I literally just neglect tek'd to fruiting. Caps still didn't develop and open properly tho.
Something something more fae but not too much?

That’s the good stuff right there. Long, curly and split open
Those tubs always took forever for me, I had one that went over six weeks before pinning.

These are all Natalensis. It's the first time that I see variation in terms of color though, which is why I keep an eye the bright colored one.
I have buried spent cube cakes last year though and they also became massive.
This is the first time I grow Nats outdoors, but so far it seems like they grow much more robustly in the wild. And lots of new one popped up over night!

Give them a couple of days to open their caps. Most of them will.

What's your plant hardiness zone?
If you don't want to say, do you know what range these are possible in? I saw a woodlovers thread that said below 5 isn't good, and even 5 may require mulch covering in the winter.
But are cubes / Nats different?
Thank you

"Whomst'd've" ...that's a new one for me lol.
Also Zwinst, sometimes mine will get to where the veils stretch, but not any further after that... seems pretty common with these. Rarely do mine actually fully-open!

Speaking of MAOI, does anyone know if those mutant varieties that make no spores, like Enigma, are those mostly dense mycelium? or stipe flesh, or undefined alien flesh?
This is a current thread about mycelium and MAOIs https://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/27528195#27528195 It's about fuzzy feet, some say those aren't mycelum, but they are, per A-Rock.
If anyone wants to have anything tested, Wonderland Labs in Cali does it, for a fee. https://wonderland-labs.com/
They're solid, a lot of better marijuana and kratom sellers use them to provided batch results, and put a QR code on packaging, with the lot number and results. They can test for specific components, % of said components, and test for things like heavy metals and mold contam. Is 99 bucks to identify and quantify a component: https://wonderland-labs.com/quotes/
