Just got my nat prints and germination is already visible on agar after 24 hours. Isn't this, like, freakishly fast compared to cubes?

Thats funny I'm starting to see signs of growth on the pf cakes I nocd up. I found a bag of brf and a nat syringe and said why not.
Hope it turns out that syringe was my last Nat spores.

You’re managing that overlay well, all my tubs like that ended up gross looking with bruising and multicolored droplets all over.
I’m also interested in more myc reports. Got a jar going now so I’m definitely trying some next time.

There's the brain/cauliflower looking overlay which I assume is completely solid tissue, and the very fluffy mesh stuff.
When I harvest I'll take some of each separately and try it.
@aka I gently misted the overlay to stop it drying out. It still produced metabolites, but didn't turn as blue/grey/cranky as the one I didn't mist. Still some multicolor weirdness.
I also put one in my FC, which is set up for pans. It still hasn't pinned yet. It doesn't seem to like so much airflow. Myc slowed and thickened, hasn't really produced metabolites or bruising, just kinda stalled. I've been misting that one too. It's Much slower. Nats seem happier in the tub with the lid.
These are all 1qt 1:4 ratio tubs. I was hoping lower ratio would limit overlay... Nope.

Try colonization/fruiting at 27C. You'll be surprised how fast they are.

Ya my nats colonise much quicker on agar, grain and in tubs. The nats that pin at the same time as my cubes are ready to harvest waaay sooner than cubes. I also love that the Nat veils can break and still double+ in size.

Hi all... I have been lurking for a while here, and this is actually my first post- so if I am posting this in the wrong place please bear this in mind. I have tried using the search engine, but I get a lot of differing answers that way...
I recently decided to try growing (so I am totally new to this other than months of reading this site), and got some prints.. as a bonus, the guy I got the prints from threw in a natalensis print... I transferred a few different prints to agar, and as an after thought also did a plate of the natalensis.
My intent was to really focus on cubes (Transkei first) and then try other more novel shrooms- A bunch of my agar plates turned out well - several different varieties. I started a liquid culture of the Natal and Transkei. The Transkei LC is questionable- I will test it on grain but I worry it is actually mold. The Natalensis LC is unquestionably good- looks like a blizzard of little snowflakes of mycellium. So it may turn out that Natalensis will be the first one I grow- is that a bad idea for a first time grower? (One note- I didn't really grow it out much on the plate, it grew a week into about the size of a uniform circular puffy quarter and I cut out a small piece and transferred to LC)
I was planning to use the SFF shoebox tek: https://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/26043820
I was planning to follow that tek rather exactly, MAYBE doing Coir-verm-gypsum instead of the straight Coir...
But that Tek was tailored for cubensis- is it appropriate for Natalensis? As a beginner would it be wiser to start with PF tek?
If I use the shoebox tek above are there any changes needed for Natalensis? My plan is to use my LC to inoculate Rye Berries. From reading this thread it seems like 1:1 spawn to substrate suggested in the shoebox tek may be too much? perhaps 0.5:1 would be better?
I have read that Natalensis grows sclerotia, so I may inoculate a jar or two and let them sit to see if they grow stones?
In terms of resources I have plenty- probably more than I need for this... I have a room I can keep warm, LOTS of shoeboxes of the type used in the shoebox tek, a terrarium humidifier, 6500K LED lights, coir, vermiculite gypsum and perlite, jars and bags for spawn...
ANY suggestions welcome- I am not looking to make a huge grow- this is not some commercial endeavor... so shoebox type operation seems appropriate to me.

First off, don’t test lc on grain, test it on agar first. You’ll get results quicker without having to cook grain for 2 hours. Second, nats prefer a lower grain to sub ratio, so go for 1:2 or 1:3. Third, they grow well in cube conditions

So the sclerotia from natalensis is only something I read on this thread- I was surprised to see it - I thought the stone producers were only Tampanensis and mexicana etc... I guess I just saw a spurious claim... I will disregard it.
Thanks for clarifying...

Teks that work for cubes will work for P-Nat.
As for liquid culture, I'd recommend getting basic teks (especially good agar tek) down before you put time and energy into that. It's easy to grow a LOT of contam quickly with LC.

I'm sure we're all pretty interested to see how beginner-friendly the natalensis turn out to be. The overlay is 100% genetic too, no amount of FAE stops it.
My latest tub is squirting out those multicolored metabolites from the blobs as well...
