Spawned a shoebox of one quart spawn to like 75% coir and 25% manure compost. Kept the sub on the thin side. I’ve got three tubs going now with no top layers yet.
The rhizo wedge I dropped is moving pretty quickly. The fuzzy one too but not as much.
Plates moving along

Well my tub with two jars and sawdust is out. Checked it and it’s got this long white thin hair mold on it. That’s what I get for rushing and not re pastuerizing the hwfp.
At least I hope that’s what it was and not the spawn.
How’s this look?? It’s not quite what I was hoping for lol.
M
It’s taking way longer than I expected to colonize. That’s 12 days from lc.
I really want to spawn the last two jars but I kinda want to wait and see how the other two tubs do so I don’t waste coir if it’s moldy spawn.

Hard to say with different grains/colors in there but looks OK. Wett-ish grains on the glass always make me think bacteria.

Yeah I’m not a big fan of that middle section.
The wedges I dropped definitely look better so far.

That wetness in the middle and the weird rhizo growth are kinda suspicious.
Edit: Stupid me didn't realize I was in natal thread. I have no idea about natal, at least not yet

Yeah in any other thread the weird rhrizo would be a red flag but not here.

Exactly, I had a couple jars that started looking like they were making stones.

lol stones would be awesome. It’d be the dream shroom.
I just shook the rhizo wedge jar. The fuzzy jar is moving about the same rate but I only had a tiny section of it to drop in.
I was about to dump the moldy tub but since I won’t need it for at least a week I’m gonna let it ride and see if the myc grows at all or if mold this early will dominate it.

Not that it is conclusive but her eis agar tissue from a plate at 400* looks different than what I have been seeing in cubes. Limited experience though.

I have enough tubs going that I have room for an epic fail so I'm trying some outlandish experiments.
I got to thinking that the only place I gget overrun with the crazy myc and blobs is on the surface, never on the sides or bottom where it touches the sides of the tub and deprived of oxygen. So I spawned one quart to a shoebox and laid cling wrap across the entire surface with a little open at the edges for co2 to excape. My theory is maybe I can delay the surface blobbing until the whole sub is colonized then pull off the cling wrap when its ready to fruit.
Or I'll kill it withing a few days.

Good luck Crack I spawned one yesterday - 6qt spawn. Wasn't going to TL or anything but then this morning I put a very thin jiffy casing on it.

I think I’m cursed with natalensis lol.
My tub with sawdust got full of mold. My tub with coir/manure caught onto the liner of the tub next to it somehow and when I picked up the other tub it flipped onto the ground and spilled all over. I packed it back in but I’m not expecting much out of manure that was all over the floor.
But my sweater box and shoebox of straight coir are doing ok. The natalensis spirits don’t want me to unlock any secrets so all my experiment tubs are going final destination on me.
I really need to do another batch of jars I have a few things ready for grain. This fluffy plate actually looks really nice.

I know right, they get fluffy but then they get pretty and stretch out. My natalensis clone is moving pretty slowly on WBS but moving and still looking clean. Show those spirits they can't keep you down. The spirits of RW defeated me, haven't tried again sense.

Dude me too. Rw gave me more problems than anything. Took me like 6 weeks and a couple prints to get germination.
Lol I started them for lagm and just now have my first shoebox knotting up.
The rhizo natalensis plate is weird it has rings like normal but they seem to get super thick. It’s like there’s layers on layers with it. It grows for the day then stops and a new layer shoots out from under it.
Then the fluffy one is just a perfect circle.

One of the jars from wedges. I think this is the rhizo one.

I expected some crazy colonization but so far it’s been pretty slow on grain and coir for me.

I'm with ya, AKA. I got enough to do 2 more monos before I'll start hoping this clone does well.
