Anyone have issues with G2G? Ive had great luck with Nattys through liquid inoculates, but tried G2G for the first time and it failed on the whole batch. Wondering if natalensis doesn’t like G2G or if I just had a bad batch.

Would that work for whole brown rice as well? Or would it stick like crazy anyway? Sorry for the unrelated question but my oats won't work cause they were infested by weevils and most have holes in them

I’ve never tried it with brown rice so I’m not sure

Either mold hiding in the master jar or there’s a hole in your technique.
Myc is myc as long as you keep it sterile you can do just about anything with it.

Awesome Ill keep trying. It seems to be the most contam resistant strain I have, so I was pretty surprised to see contams from G2G of all things.

Just because it’s resistant to contamination doesn’t mean it’s quicker or more vigorous than other mold

What does your spawn ratio look like?
Im using 20 qt monos with 2 qts spawn(wbs) to equal parts coir. Im catching up on old posts and see people having good luck with different ratios. What is working for you?

So I swabbed 4 plates. 2 plates germinated, 2 plates did not. One of the 2 that germinated has also grown black mold. The other looks good. Going to take transfers either tonight or tomorrow.

I've had great results with 1to5. But spawned to straw/manure which are also a food source for them. Not sure what to say about plain coir but think 1 to 3 or even higher might be good.

Do you guys have any thoughts about crossing this variety with PE (or a hybrid from the PE family)?
Pluses:
- Both are potent
- The natalensis fast growth could overcome the PE slow growth
Minuses:
- The active compounds seem a bit different so the actives won't be a shining example of either species
- Neither variety is stable, so a cross might be even less stable
- PE and natalensis both sometimes refuse to pin

That would be a hard thing to do because they are not both Psilocybe Cubensis I am told. I remember Allan coming back and confirming that P Nats are a different species all together. I am not saying it is impossible, but I do not think anyone has successfully done this yet. But I assure you someone somewhere is working on it.
Best way to try would be to cross with something like a rust spore to confirm the pheno.

I see Crackatoa tried but stopped posting project updates, so it may have failed: https://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/27151846/filter/27244223#27151846
Did Grimm post about his cross in this thread or elsewhere?

Yeah the results said they’re very close so it could work, like Jakes necD pans.
Something obvious like an albino or rust spores is probably the place to start to see how likely they are to cross.

What's the advantage of that? It could be a cross and not rust/albino, or it could be rust/albino and not a cross. Or am I misunderstanding something? How is rust spores or albino different than other non-natalensis characteristics?
