Looking forward to seeing how it goes! This myc can do anything it seems
Gave up on the tub with the potting soil casing. I think the type of soil I used was too nutritious. Once it colonized the casing, it just started throwing pins on the sides and bottom. Flipped the sub and got a decent flush.
The tub with no top layer (exposed grain) is doing very very well. RH is 5-15% here this time of year, so I was really afraid it'd dry out. So far, so good though.

Same clone, same ratio (1:4), with a 1/2 inch top layer. I think uncovered and uncased might be the way for me

The poting soil I used and worked great was really black. It looked just like soil.

I used the standard miracle grow stuff and that worked well too. But I don't like that it has fertilizer pellets in it, so next time I'll try for something else without that.

Mine was not just soil. It was definitely a mix of stuff that needed pasteurized. I pulled a noob. Off to the compost pile we go! No big deal

I just did a tub today 1/3 with pasteurized straw/manure and a top layer of 1" coir. Will see if that needs potting soil...

Half way through the second flush from a destroyed substrate. First flush was real hell to harvest, ain't nobody got time to do it nice and carefully.

As obvious as it is, it didn't even occur to me to use scissors So used to twist and pull. Next time will do that for sure.

Spawned 6/12. Ran out of sub so the 5th one is a day behind the other 4. That ones looking pretty much like the last photo.

Nat clone 2 with no top layer or casing last night:

Nat clone 2 with top layer but no casing this morning:

Overlay was nonexistent on the box with exposed grain. It seems like it's pretty easy to get clone cultures to fruit, so I'm really interested to see if a MS grow benefits from doing it that way. Upping the FAE once the myc pokes through the top layer seems to be helping to manage the overlay on some of my other tubs, as well. I don't think it matters anymore, but this culture was rhizomorphic.

I just had a not so pleasant experience on these. Really sad almost suicidal at times feeling hopeless and despair. Maybe I just needed a good cry…

That sucks man. I find that I come out of those with an understanding of what it's like to really feel like a piece of shit, and so can appreciate the "good days" better.

That’s partly why I love these things, the crying I do on them is downright embarrassing, like completely out of breath sprawled out like I just finished a 300m dash afterwards type of crying. But then I don’t feel like a piece of shit for a month and I call it good. Sorry they took you down that path
