I just harvested this shoebox and took some prints and clones:

These are the remaining two shoeboxes. I think I'll be harvesting the more mature one tomorrow:
I cloned these two:

All in all I'm quite pleased! They are a little smaller than I was hoping, but I think that might be related to the surface/pinning conditions at time of fruiting.

I ended up harvesting the second mature shoebox this evening. Here are some pre-harvest pics:

What do you guys recommend for dosing these? I normally do around 2g dry for cubes, I think I read these are quite a bit stronger. Is that correct?

Potency seems to vary slightly with each culture for me. Definitely 2-3x. Agreed that a dry gram is a good place to start. Prepare for a ride if you decide to take them fresh

Thanks for the info guys! I'll try a gram. I'll post a report as soon as I've got one.

Thank you kindly! I suspect it was luck of the genetic draw more than anything, although I'd love to say it was my mad myco skillz. I basically just treated them like cubes but lowered the spawn ratio to 3:1. I going to run the clone I took next to see if I can get some more consistency and denser fruit sets. Very curious about using a potting soil casing layer.

The name gives it away.....
One has coir/verm and the other has potting soil which can be various types of soil, wood, horse dung, perlite, etc. Potting soil almost always has some form of beneficial bacteria as well so you can't just use it as is like coir/verm and will have to pasteurize.

You would stealth edit your post, haha.
Most potting soil mixes are pretty much peat/verm + compost, earthworm castings, various other fillers. Perhaps there's a certain type of symbiotic microorganism that Nats are accustom to seeing in the wild thats present in potting soil and not in peat?

Nosferatu, when you say "potting soil straight from the bag", do you mean without pasteurizing or hydrating at all? (misting it afterwards or also no?) Sorry if this question is stupid but I'd rather not fuck things up
I finally got crack's Nat spores on agar a couple days ago, no germination yet but I'm already impatient lol

I'm curious about this as well. My plan was to use it straight from the bag, 2-3mm or so, and mist the crap out of it after first applying. Would love to know exactly what you do Nosferatu.

I think if I drilled like 50 small holes all along the tub right at surface level, it wouldn’t overlay. Because the myc growing up the tub walls stays almost an inch away from the holes

I think a better way to fruit these might be like oysters in poly tubing. Just cut X’s where you want pins to form

It is a genetic gamble for sure. I had one SB flush out just fine and one Overlay like a bastard. I cased the overlay in Peat Verm, and it ate it right up. I don't know what to do know I am just letting it run out and get to a point where it needs to fruit.

The genetic gamble is real. So far, my rhizo cultures, despite the overlay, are the only ones I can get to fruit in a timely fashion. Every tomentose culture that I've spawned so far has either become a mess of overlay or failed to colonize 100%. Each rhizo culture pinned within 10 days. I'm sure it's my fault, maybe I didn't look close enough, but my plates and jars all seemed to be clean. Or at the very least, the mycelium moved so quickly that I didn't manage to spot something that is along for the ride. Going to start fresh with some new prints while the clones get going.
This one is the best of the tomentose bunch I've got going now, but they all get the same weird myc along the sides and bottom just before they reach 100%. 1:3 ratio

These ones are chugging along pretty well. The mycelium on the sides and bottom look perfectly normal.

I just harvested my 3rd and final shoebox. I had bigger hopes for this one but it ended up with the smallest flush. Still got some pretty nice specimens however. I cloned the chonky one in the last photo. For the second flush I think I'm going to try giving them a thin casing layer of potting soil cause why not.

If this tub fruits, I’m making prints for the marketplace. Should be like 2 weeks max How long can I leave a cap to print before it needs dehydrated. Or is it useless when left out like that
