Lid idea is to have 4 injection ports but no GE holes to start w.

The steps would be normal w PCing jars, inoculate, and then only when you start to see spore germination or suspect that the oxygen is starting to be consumed by the mycelium then you punch some holes for GE.

The reason for this is to virtually eliminate jars lost to a contam.

Overkill or practical... let me know what you think!

Better chance of contamination from the get go.
You will seal the jars and create a vacuum so when you push your syringe through it will suck the entire syringe in like a street hooker

Interesting, sounds like you've tried something like this. So the pressure is really that great from vacuum that it would suck in too much spore solution? or the vacuum being broken from puncturing would suck in too much outside air?

It won't empty a syringe but it's pretty strong. Think new pickles. Also you contams are gunna come from the syringe anyways lol.

I beg to differ... I had a quart jar of lc that was sealed up like this, suck my entire syringe of spores...

That was back when I didnt listen to anybody and thought MS to LC was fine...

Those vacuums are no joke...

In all honesty brf jars with a layer of verm are pretty solid!

If you got a contaminate that's gonna get through your layer of verm... it's also gonna get through your SHIP.

I would open air innoc my brf and flame the needle every 4 jars and keep the lids and the needle wipe with ISO and I had about a 95% success rate...

Thanks everybody for commenting on this!

My only thought would be to slightly loosen lids while in PC and then screwing tight once the vacuum pressure is mostly gone but still enough heat in jars as to prevent any entry to contams.

Will try this in a batch or two and report back what happens.

Even if you unscrew the lid a few turns or even if the ring is completely off it will still create a vacuum as gravity will make the lid sit on the jar...

Only way to prevent the vacuum with your lid set up is to add a GE hole or to use one peice lids and leave them on loose... it wont work with those 2 peice lids tho...
