You've mentioned this before. I gather it gives you the cash to indulge in some expensive mechanical hobbies (same place a lot of my expendable income goes). Without giving the game away, what kind of thing are we talking here?

Simply getting something patented is unbelievably time consuming and expensive.

I just looked on Justia. My dad has a half dozen patents approved since he died. Most recent one was in 2019, six years after he died. For some reason my mother is also on the patent 🤔

I mean I'm sure other people had the same idea, but I legit thought out all the things you could do with a phone,mp3 player and camera combination and I even had some concept of the Apple play store.

I wish I wrote down my thoughts about it so I could go back and look at it today.

If concepts were patentable, then apple could have prevented other companies from producing smartphones.

Long story short, I created a safety product that’s used for concrete breaking activities. It’s been a bit of a disappointment as far as sales, but that’s mostly due to a lack of regulatory pressure. I’ve still done pretty well, no complaints, despite not owning the patent or the company that sells it.

What type of motors/machines are you into??

I have at least two 3 phase brushless DC motors. Great performance.

I just found out that most of the modern motors used in drones are actually three phase ac. The electronics create three AC sine waves from the battery. I guess they are more reliable and have variable speed without losing torque.

I work in plastic manufacturing and have an idea that I want to produce in the next year. I can make the molds and produce the product at my work. Not having a lot of middlemen will give me a nice profit margin too.

This one is particularly humorous in that it would cost tens if not hundreds of millions of dollars to bring something like this to market.

Except I never implied I could have actually brought it to a market. I simply thought of the idea years ago. I said "other ideas of mine" in the rest of the post,  if you weren't too busy rushing to go out of your way just to bicker like usual.

Do you have an example? Converting from DC battery to AC would be pretty wasteful.

I would never voluntarily buy one. Not unless that was my only option.

I need to know (and hear) that there's controlled explosions happening at a mind numbing rate and under my control.

Electric is never gonna get my juices flowing.

I own all two strokes. Both on road and off. I even have one two stroke race car. None of it is very fast in modern terms, but it’s all pretty fun. The only four strokes I own are my lawn mower and my diesel car.
