What's your substrate consist of? Nutrient rich substrates can be good for certain things but they are also much more prone to contamination.

Bad spawn. Sorry bud. Go back to agar and do some more transfers or swab some new spores

It wasn’t bad spawn there were a few jars in question that all went in one tub and that one has trich. This keeps happening it’s not just this round of spawn and substrate and while it still fruits great it’s a pain in the ass to deal with and I want to figure why it’s happening and how to stop it.
This is what I’ve found but my temps are in the 70s I don’t think overheating is The problem
Black Whisker Mold %u2013 Doratomyces spp.
This fungus produces black powdery spores that appear as smoke when disturbed. This mold indicates the presence of certain carbohydrates in the compost at spawning time. It also indicates that the straw has been incompletely caramelized or underheated in Phase I (therefore, carbohydrates are in a form easily utilized). The proportion of carbohydrates, particularly cellulose, may be too high. The black whisker mold is also present in compost that overheated during spawn run. Simple carbohydrates are utilized by this fungus but it can also utilize lignin. Doratomyces, Aspergillus, and Penicillium produce copious numbers of spores and may cause respiratory problems (nasal and throat irritation, chest congestion, breathing difficulty, etc.).

Looks like the stuff growing between the tiles of every old bathroom I’ve ever been in. Maybe you have a patch growing in the room? On the walls/ceiling maybe?

Contamination comes from bad spawn. I grew tubs in a moldy basement with no contams. Spawn was clean, so tubs were clean.

Im saying the problem is in your procedure. Its not clean enough. Im not fimilar with the bucket tek. I get coir to feild capacity and boil it in a covered pot in qaurt jars for half an hour

Its very unlikely its coming from your coir.
Lots of molds are hard to spot when theyre growing in grain.
Go back to agar.

Have you been using the same batch of coir for all the moldy tubs??
Based on that summary you posted it sounds like it’s usually from under heated straw, so I could see some robust mold hanging onto coir.
If it’s all been the same batch of coir I’d try pasteurization next time just out of curiosity.
If you’ve been growing fine and then all of a sudden mold pops up everytime it’s gotta be something consistent.
Maybe the syringe if that’s what you’re using? Seems like it’d show up before this point though.
I just reread it, it says it also grows on lignin isn’t that coir?

I just looked at that contamination page and if you scroll past the section you posted and find thr aspergillus part there’s a black version that looks similar also.

This makes sense, I don’t boil the water I use hot tap water around 130F this is most likely the culprit, thank you

Right on I hope it is.
I think most people just use hot water in a bucket. If this does turn out to be the problem you should come back and let us know what brand it was.
