Magnet box lid - sort of TEK

Hi all, I currently use small magnets to determine FAE in my unmodded tubs instead of flipping or cracking the lids. This way I can still stack boxes and they are sturdy.
Furthermore I can know exactly how much FAE they are getting and that it is regular all the way round.
Not sure if much of a benefit to others but it has helped me with space.
You can add more magnets to increase FAE or vice versa depending on conditions.

you can see them in use in one of my tubs below

How’s it unmoded if your having to mod it? I’m doing pasty easy dial tub now. So far I don’t have to do anything. End goal=no maintenance.
It does seem like a cool solution for your situation. Personally I like to stack the tubs high and not do anything until harvest.

I guess your right but they aren't glued to the box so can easily be removed and the box is back to usual. I meant it more as in this is for tubs that dont have holes with polyfill.
I thought of the idea when using bods unmodified tek but my tubs lids when flipped weren't sturdy and if I just cracked the lid I couldn't stack boxes.

Yeah it seems the flipped lid is not suited for stacking too many. That can be an issue for many if you are doing more than one tub. I bet it’s easy to knock one over if you do stack them that way. Also if you stack them with the flipped lid doesn’t it press the lid down and defeat the whole purpose?

Why don't you try it before making guesses eat? They stack pretty well for some people and not for others

I did brother. I accidentally knocked it off. And it didn’t workout for stacking with the purple latch sterilites. The tubs underneath would get the lids pressed down from the weight of the tub above and fae was an issue.

This is one of the reasons I implemented the magnets.
I can stack as many as I like and they all still have the equal amount of FAE and are very solid.
It definitely won't work for every type of tub but for those that have tubs which have a lid which hooks over the sides it's a great space saver and means I don't knock a whole tub over like I may have previously done...
edit: Whilst there's two TC's looking at this, any comments on the photo of my current grow?
It is rye to coir with a little verm just to bring it back to field capacity.
I thought it looked a little dry but I'm unwilling to water just yet as I have messed up in the past making my subs too wet.

Looks good. They always look like that when you use a top layer of coir.

How thick are the magnets? Your top layer looks great.

They are 2mm thick and 10mm diameter - like small watch batteries.
Thanks, that photo was actually 2 days ago, tub was pawned on the 24th December so hoping to have some pins in the next week or so. They will either be ecuadors or amazonians - I forgot to label my jars!
edit: My diagram says 5mm but that is wrong, just checked my amazon account to look exactly what they were and they are 10mm not 5mm in diameter
